Participants needed for Georgia State Univeristy Research Study

Participants are needed for a research study underway at Georgia State University that is examining the long-term outcomes of childhood brain tumor survivors. For this study, participants should be eight years or older and at least five years since diagnosis. In most cases, participants should be medically stable and not currently receiving radiation or chemo when entering the study.

The study consists of two parts: 1) an abbreviated neuropsychological evaluation (i.e. examining memory, attention, and problem solving skills), and 2) neuroimaging (i.e. MRI scans without contrasts or injections). Participants will be reimbursed for their time, travel, food, and parking for each portion of the study (for up to a total of $100). Please note that the neuroimaging will be done for research purposes only and is not a clinical scan. If you are interested in participating or having your child participate, please call 404-413-6339 and leave a detailed message (name, phone number, best times to be reached) or email Dr. Tricia King's research team at survivors@gsu.edu with good times to contact you by phone. A researcher will contact you as soon as possible. The research team looks forward to hearing from you!

Thirty years of "Helping Families Cope"

The Brain Tumor Foundation for Children will enter its 30th year of service in 2013.  Watch for a special 30th Anniversary print edition of the Butterfly Bulletin coming soon!

Established in 1983 in Atlanta, GA, the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children was the first non-profit organization in the United States to focus on pediatric brain tumor disease. The Foundation's mission is: "To provide financial assistance, social support, and information for families of children with brain and spinal cord tumors; fund research projects that improve treatment options and search for a cure; and raise public awareness of the disease and advocate on behalf of children who are affected." BTFC serves children and families throughout Georgia and the Southeast. Our south Florida chapter, Christina's Kidz, is dedicated to helping Florida families.
