Wisconsin Marathon:
Cheese the Day!

On May 3, M&B publisher Jan Seeley, joined friend and Wisconsin Marathon race organizer, Jeremy Solomon, for a fun-filled weekend of cheese - lots of cheese.

Runners in the Wisconsin Marathon enjoyed the spectacular views that Lake Michigan has to offer, experienced the great camaraderie of their fellow runners, and smacked their lips against the famous Big Cheese Medal when they finished. And when you cap it off with a free brat and beer at the finish along with some live music, you'll know exactly why Wisconsin Marathon runners "cheese the day!" Some runners chose to be part of the "Cheese Coral" - a special start area for any registered runner who was willing to don the dairy that makes Wisconsin famous. All they had to do was to arrive on race morning wearing some kind of cheese-themed apparel.

The Wisconsin Marathon is part of three different marathon series. Click here for more information.

Clearwater Distance Classic

50K, Marathon, Half marathon, 5-mile, 5K walk
January 18, 2015
Clearwater, Florida

With four timed races and a non-competitive 5K walkathon there is something for everyone at the Clearwater Distance Classic in sunny Florida. These events start and finish on the city's beautiful downtown waterfront, an easily accessible venue with ample, nearby parking.

Central Florida's only marathon on the Gulf Coast, this scenic course is USATF-certified, a Boston qualifier, visually varied, and mostly flat, with just two 75' bridges (miles 1 and 4), one 25' bridge (mile 14), and three 25' overpasses. The Inaugural Clearwater 50K Ultramarathon will use our marathon course, but with a 2.4 mile out-and-back extension at mile 16.5 to achieve the 31-mile distance.

With ample aid stations featuring water, Gatorade, and Florida oranges, runners will be well-supported and encouraged by friendly volunteers as they click off the miles. The post-race party at Coachman Park is an ideal location to bask in the winter sun while celebrating athletic achievements with friends, family, food, beverages, and live entertainment.

Our out-of-town athletes love to relax and recover on award-winning Clearwater Beach, with the area's famous white sand and the mild Gulf of Mexico waters. Ideal average temperatures (50° - 71°) make this a perfect spot for a mid-winter vacation wrapped around a long-distance run or walk.

Affordable entry fees and fair refund policy allows early entrants to register risk-free. So sign up today and earn your running starfish medal in January. Click here for more information.
Summer Race News - Two "Walker-friendly" Marathons

Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon
June 1, 2014
Deadwood, South Dakota

Are you in marathon shape, but you don't have a marathon scheduled in the next two weeks? No worry - there's still time to register for the Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon in Deadwood, South Dakota. And, with a 7-hour cutoff, this marathon is walker-friendly.

When you first come into the town of Deadwood, you are immediately transported to a time filled with gambling, gunslingers, and gold. Deadwood sits in the heart of the Black Hills, a name given to the thick pine forests because of how dark they appear from a distance. The race is run on the George S. Mickelson Trail, a crushed-stone trail that was once a railroad line. You'll run through tunnels, past granite walls, prairies, and evergreen forests - in short, awesome, breathtaking scenery. Hatfield McCoy Marathon

June 14, 2014
Kentucky and West Virginia

No feudin' - just runnin'! The Hatfield McCoy Marathon was founded in 2000 with the inaugural race the host to just 13 runners. Now they welcome over 1,000 runners! If you are a "50-Stater," you can choose either West Virginia or Kentucky as the race state because you'll be running through BOTH! The marathon begins in Kentucky and ends at the world famous Coal House in West Virginia. The course is a scenic route that follows the creeks and rivers and parallels many of the famous Hatfield-McCoy feud sites. There's even a swinging bridge that's a real challenge to cross! It is flat to rolling hills, but beware of Blackberry Mountain between mile 6 and 7 - it's a killer! You even get to choose sides and run as a "True Hatfield" or a "Real McCoy!" There's no time limit, so everyone is welcome. And, after the race you can relax around an open fire and share your race story at the post race party! Click here for more information.
