Quotes of the Week

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

- Matthew 6:26 (NIV)

"No kind action ever stops with itself. One kind action leads to another. Good example is followed. A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindness does to others is that it makes them kind themselves."

- Amelia Earhart

Texas State Railroad Dogwood Special Brunch Train - 3/30/14

Enjoy the best view of Mother Nature's annual show on the Texas State Railroad's first Dogwood Special Brunch Train!

The Texas State Railroad's first brunch train will roll out from the Palestine Depot at 10:15 on Sunday, March 30.

This special train ride was created especially for viewing the annual blooming of the dogwoods in their natural habitat.

Running the middle weekend of Palestine's 76th annual Dogwood Trails event, this ride is sure to offer picturesque views of the East Texas Forest Country at its finest.

The meal, catered by Contemporary Catering of Palestine, will feature a spinach, strawberry and grapefruit salad with poppy seed dressing; bacon and cheese quiche for adults and pigs in a blanket for children 12 and under; fresh fruit including strawberries, kiwi, melon, grapes and banana with a light fruity dressing; cheese and crackers; biscuits and jam; and Choux Rings (light and crunchy pastries glazed with a yummy, almond flavored glaze.)

Non-alcoholic beverages will also be served, including non-alcoholic versions of the traditional brunch beverages: the Mimosa and the Bloody Mary. Guests who wish to BYOB for these drinks may do so, but they must open and pour their own bottles.

The four-hour train ride will include a one-hour layover in Rusk for guests to stretch their legs, enjoy the park, view the exhibits in the depot and visit the gift shop.

Tickets are $50 per person. Seating is limited and tickets are selling fast. For more information or to book tickets, call 903-683-3098 or go to: https://www.texasstaterr.com/events.php
