Relay for Life of Cherokee County Annual Super Hero Survivors & Caregivers Spa Day - 2/25/14

Relay for Life of Cherokee County invites Survivors and Caregivers to the Super Hero Spa Day!

The event will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the Rusk Civic Center located at 555 Euclid St in Rusk. Come by and allow us to Pamper You! Why ? Because you deserve it, and we want to.

We have volunteers that are excited to meet you and help you enjoy your 100% complimentary SUPER HERO SPA DAY!

Lunch will be served from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Texas State Railroad Set to Kick Off 2014 Season - 3/1/14!

On Saturday, March 1, the Texas State Railroad will kick off its 2014 season. In January and February the trains underwent annual maintenance and inspection. They are now ready for passengers to once again ride the rails through East Texas. The Piney Woods Excursions will depart both the Palestine and Rusk depots at 11am.

On Sunday, March 2, anyone wearing Texas flag clothing or jewelry will get a 20% discount in the gift shop in celebration of Texas Independence Day!

2014 Rusk Baseball/Softball Association (RBSA) Registration Dates - 2/22, 3/1 & 3/8

The Rusk Baseball/Softball Association (RBSA) has announced the official dates and locations for 2014 Spring Season registrations as follows:

Saturday, February 22 - 8:00am-1:00pm (Rusk Jr. High Gym)

Saturday, March 1 - 8:00am-1:00pm (Rusk Jr. High Gym)

Saturday, March 8 - 8:00am-1:00pm (Rusk Jr. High Gym)

There will be NO LATE REGISTRATION!!!

Make sure that when you register, you bring a copy of your child's birth certificate, as you will not be allowed to register without a copy!!!

Registration fees are $35 for Pre T-Ball (Ages 3-4) and $70 for all other age groups. Registration fee includes a jersey and cap, as well as player insurance.

Rusk ISD Transportation - Bus Drivers Wanted!

Rusk ISD is looking for Bus Drivers and Sub Bus Drivers! Candidates are asked to contact Nicky Tarrant at the Rusk I.S.D. Bus Barn at 903.683.5566 or stop by the Bus Barn on Eagle Drive of Loop 343.

STARTING PAY - $12.50 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS

* Must have a CDL driver's license with a P & S endorsement

* If you need help getting your license, they will help!

JOB DESCRIPTION

Safely transporting Rusk I.S.D. students to and from school and academic events.

Based on eligibility, driving a school bus may allow you to participate in teacher retirement, health insurance, or other insurance offerings. We will also assist you in obtaining the above qualifications if you do not meet them.

Cherokee Civic Theatre Presents "Passing Go!" - Opening Night 2/28

Cherokee Civic Theatre invites you to attend the upcoming winter musical, "Passing Go!" written and directed by Jacksonville resident, Minette Breitenberg. Musical arrangements are by Seth Lord. The cast is composed of actors and singers from throughout Cherokee County.

Using the analogy of life being as changeable as the rolling dice in a board game, "Passing Go!", is all about relationships, free parking & real estate?

"Passing Go!" will open at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 with additional evening performances on March 1, 7 and 8. A Sunday matinee will be presented at 2 p.m. March 2.
