Care For a Little Toxic Mercury with
Your Toxic Corn Syrup?
The findings of a January 2009 study were published in the peer-reviewed journal, Environmental Health, which showed that mercury (the 2nd most toxic metal known to man) was found in almost 50 percent of tested samples of commercial high fructose corn syrup. It appears that the contamination is not accidental and continues to be made using 'mercury-grade' caustic soda.
We used to think of fructose as just the sugar contained in fruit. Not so anymore. Man-made fructose, high-fructose corn syrup, is now contained in many common day foods:
- salad dressings/condiments
- yogurt, ice cream
- vitamin supplements
- protein powders
- cereals
- soups

Chemically manufactured fructose has been implicated in:
- Cardiovascular disease including hypertension: A study published in 2000 in the Journal of Hypertension proved fructose feeding induced high blood pressure in rats fed normal diets and high salt diets.
- Type 2 Diabetes & weight gain: Fructose is rapidly taken up by the liver and deposited in the body as fat.
- Obesity: Consumption of sucrose, which is 50% fructose, and high-fructose corn syrup have increased by 26% since 1970 - a primary reason for the obesity epidemic in our country.
