Kurt Elling Says

In August Kurt signed a recording contract with OKeh/Sony Music Masterworks!

His forthcoming album, The Beautiful Day, is set to release on October 28, 2016. It will be Elling's first release on OKeh, as well as his first holiday album.

Of the signing Kurt says, "I am very excited about starting a new relationship with OKeh. OKeh A&R head, Wulf Müller, reminds me of the late Bruce Lundvall in his enthusiasm for the music and his love for his artists. Wulf has been a friend of mine for years and I know that I will have his full support moving forward - both as an artist and a business partner."

The new album will be supported by a tour across Europe and the US East Coast.

Kurt joins other jazz stars on the OKeh Records label, including Branford Marsalis, Sonny Rollins, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Till Brönner, Dave Holland, Bob James, David Sanborn, The Bad Plus, and more.

Sony Music Masterworks comprises Masterworks, Sony Classical, OKeh, Portrait, Masterworks Broadway and Flying Buddha imprints.

Time to Say Goodbye - Kurt Elling with the Metropole Orkest, March 24, 2012
Time to Say Goodbye,

Your Moment of Elling . . .

Any music that jazz encounters,
it absorbs and transforms.
It takes it into itself and transfigures that art form.
It's true when jazz musicians
go after classical music,
Afro-Cuban music, Brazilian music.
It's what jazz does.
It encounters unforeheard propositions,
and it absorbs and transforms those sounds
into something new and amazing.
