ACPA Lends a Hand for Annual Toy Drive
This past November, the Allegheny County Pharmacists Association collected donations to benefit the Mathilda Theiss Health Center Christmas toy drive. The Mathilda Theiss Center is a UPMC-based hospital clinic owned and operated by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. It primarily serves an economically disadvantaged, minority population. Each year, University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne pharmacy students collect toys for the drive. This year they collaborated with the Allegheny County Pharmacists Association to increase awareness for the cause. ACPA members personally donated $40, which was provided to the center to purchase toys for distribution to the children during the Christmas season.

University of Pittsburgh Campus Update
The University of Pittsburgh PPA chapter is diving into the holiday season with a toy drive for Matilda H. Theiss Child Development Center. Matilda Theiss provides early childhood mental health programs for kids with behavioral and psychiatric disorders or at high risk of developing such disorders. Pitt PPA also hosted an informational session for students interested in presenting at PPA Midyear Conference in January. We encourage any Pitt students interested in presenting to email us at pittppa@gmail.com.
Duquesne University Campus Update
This year at Duquesne, membership has increased by almost fifty new members.  Duquesne also had a group of twelve people attend the Annual Conference in Harrisburg. The PPA Chapter has put a new focus on legislation at their monthly meetings. The first meeting focused on the newly passed immunization legislation. The second meeting focused on the standing order for naloxone in Allegheny County. Last month's meeting included an update on the standing order for naloxone as it is now state wide. Discussion about PBM transparency as well as the new mergers that are taking place in the pharmacy community also were part of the meetings. Now, Duquesne is working on the Toy Drive for Matilda Theiss as well as preparing for the OTC competition for next semester and Mid- Year conference.
