Sheryl Tuorila
 Minneapolis Minnesota

I create unique handmade tiles in my Northeast Minneapolis studio.  With these tiles I design and make contemporary mosaic panels as artwork for homes, businesses, and large-scale public spaces.  The meditative, soothing quality of my artwork works well in a therapeutic setting and can found at Mayo Clinic, Hennepin County Medical Center, Gillette Children's Hospital and Regions Hospital. I also install my designs as kitchen backsplashes, fireplace surrounds, bathrooms and walls.  Custom designed tables, benches and home accessories are also available.

Commissions are always encouraged and welcomed.

Matte green is the standard color with many other colors available for order. Number tiles come with brass screws and rubber washers for mounting. Custom sizes, font choices and multi-number plaques are available.

Kathy Mellin Grubbs Mosaics
St. Paul, Minnesota

I am an artist in Saint Paul, MN. My primary focus is Mosaic art. I teach beginning to advanced classes in my studio, and at art galleries in Minnesota and Wisconsin. I am available to teach throughout the United States.

Solace
In 2005, while teaching a seminar for home gardeners, Kathy met a mosaic artist and became hooked on a new hands-on hobby that could tie in with artistic features for her gardens. "That was a particularly challenging period of my life and through mosaics I found I could literally pick up the broken pieces and make something beautiful." This became her new motto. Kathy often uses a mix of handmade tile, glass in many forms, tile, beads and found objects in her creations. It is intriguing to see how these works come together.

In 2009 Kathy entered her first mosaic art show and was encouraged when her
entry, "Blues Guitar," was selected as best in show, and the piece sold shortly afterwards. She began teaching at a mosaic studio and at art centers and schools. By 2012 she had installed several large murals at Windom Dual Spanish Immersion School, and had received a small Irrigate grant to create a mural along the City of Saint Paul's Light Rail Line. She opened her own studio, and moved it to a larger space in 2013.

"Mosaic art has taken over my life. My spirit is happiest when I am in the garden, or in my studio," she says. "It has been a long and winding journey, always with art and nature intertwined. I am a very spiritual person, and my art is my meditation and my daily prayer. I love being creative, spreading positive messages, and giving others the opportunity to discover that they have artistic inclinations they may not have known existed. Mosaic art is healing to view and to create."

Cirrelda's Tiles
Clay and illustration = tiles that bring pictures honoring the wild in our lives, to accent sites both inside and out.
Chevrolet 1953
I started learning about clay as a youngster in Tulsa at Philbrook Art Center. In mid and high school and at the University of New Mexico, exploration continued. Bags of clay and tools were moved whenever I moved.

When we settled down in Alameda in 1985, I built an 8x12 foot shed open to the backyard, inspired by "Pot Hollow," the place for clay at Ghost Ranch. Years later I would have my nephew create a sign for it, "Pot Hollow South" when I began to teach clay classes there in earnest: "Cirrelda's clases de clay."

I have drawn into clay, incorporated texture, utilized combinations of Duncan, Mayco, Amaco, Laguna, Coyote glazes. Inspired by Giorgini's "Handmade Tiles" book in the late 90's, I began transferring my drawings to press forms - plaster at first, then switching to bisque-fired clay for the form.

In answer to a friend's request to create tiles for her wooden raised garden beds, the drawings for the series "Garden Companions" were started.

Recently, my involvement in a community mosaics project takes up much of my creative time. The "Protect Our Wildlife Corridors Community Mosaic" has a page on Facebook, fyi!
