FROM THE DIRECTOR
Thanks to all of you who came to Parent Night and learned more about your child's time at school and let us get to know you better.
Please come to one of the Conscious Discipline programs in October.  When parents and staff work together sharing and learning it is powerful for our children.
It has been a joy to watch all the children become accustomed to the school routine.  Those faces that looked a little hesitant at first now show eagerness to get to their classrooms and get busy each morning.
It has also been a joy to get know our children's parents.  We are very thankful for those parents who have been getting involved and helping us in a variety of ways.
As the season changes we see the glory of God in the beautiful colors.  In Chapel we will celebrate those changes and thank God for the beauty of creation.
  Wishing you well.
                 Jane

 PARENT PROGRAMS
Don't Miss Conscious Discipline  on Thursday 10/8!!!
Mandy Lloyd, the popular, certified Conscious Discipline instructor who has conducted training for parents and staff at our school for the past six years, will present Session 1, Be a S.T.A.R.! on October 8 and Session 2 on November 12.  Don't worry if you can't come to every session; each one begins with a review of the previous lesson. We welcome your participation in learning the language and skills that we use at school.  Please join us at 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 8 in Room 113 (down the hall from the front door).  Sorry, we can't provide child care for this.

Morning October Sessions
Become a S.T.A.R. Parent -  Give your children the gifts of safety and connection. Take your first step in developing the Skills and Powers of Conscious Discipline®. You will learn about a simplified brain model and learn to see children's behavior in a new light. Begin a Brain Smart® Start at home just as we do at school.  The October morning sessions led by Conscious Discipline Certified Instructor  Jane Plum will be held on Thursday, October 15 at 9:15 am and Friday October 30 at 9:15 am.  Both sessions are the same; come on whichever day works best for you.  Sorry, no child care.  It's okay to bring quiet infants with you.
PARENTS GROUP - LOTS GOING ON
Fall Festival Volunteers Needed
Fall Festival will be held on Thursday, October 22 & Friday, October 23 (Rain dates 26-27).  Fall Festival is an event held during the school day for the children to have an extended playground time, where lots of special outdoor activities are offered. The activities are developmentally appropriate preschool learning opportunities that take place outdoors using wonderful fall materials, such as straw, corn, pumpkins and leaves.
Look for details in upcoming email from the Parents Group. Please consider volunteering for an hour or two outdoors with the children during this beautiful season.  Parents may also volunteer in advance by dropping off needed supplies.  An email will come out in the next couple weeks about where to sign up.
*Please note that this event is NOT a family event for parents and siblings.  Only the parents who volunteer attend the Festival.
Meeting & Volunteer Opportunities
The Parents' Group met today and discussed the Yard Sale, Fall Festival, and other upcoming events. We will be meeting on Tuesday, October 27 and the last Tuesday of each month at 9:10 a.m. Please come and join us as we discuss future activities and get to know our fellow parents.  Children (preschool age and younger) are welcome!

FLU SHOTS
Has your child been vaccinated?
CDC, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, recommends that all children aged 6 months up to their 19th birthday get a flu vaccine.  Make arrangements with your pediatrician today.  Also, parents of young children are considered at high risk for flu, so check with your physician as well.
In addition to the flu shots, your next line of defense is always HANDWASHING.  Never skimp on the soap or the sudsing time!
