NACCHO's HIV/STI Prevention "Tool or Model Practice of the Week"

This week's featured tool from the HIV/STI Toolkit is the Protocol for Use of Social Media for Case Investigations, which was developed by the Spokane Regional Health District Disease Prevention and Response Division. Local health departments can use this protocol to guide the use of social media profiles to contact original patients and/or notify partners of possible exposure to HIV, STDs, and other communicable diseases/infections.

Webinar: Embarking on an Electronic Health Record System
computer02 The Family Planning National Training Center for Management and Systems Improvement will host part two of their three part electronic health record webinar series titled "Embarking on an Electronic Health Record (EHR) System: From Thought to Action" on April 23 at 2:00 PM EDT. Participants will learn about the steps that a clinic needs to take for EHR adoption and become familiar with approaches for EHR implementation. Presenters will also provide a first-hand account of EHR adoption in a Title X setting. To learn more about the EHR webinar series and register, click here
Issue Report: "Investing in America's Health: A State-by-State Look at Public Health Funding and Key Health Facts"
The Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation released an issue report titled "Investing in America's Health: A State-by-State look at Public Health Funding and Key Health Facts," which highlights the following findings: inadequate federal funding, cuts in state and local funding, variation in health statistics by state, and variation in health statistics by county. Webinar: Defining Structural Change for HIV Prevention 
hiv red ribbon The Center for Strengthening Youth Prevention Paradigms is hosting a webinar on April 18 at 2:00 PM EDT titled "Defining Structural Change for HIV Prevention." The webinar will explore the concept of structural change and provide a framework for provider application of structural change in HIV prevention and care efforts. After the webinar, participants will be able to: 1) define structural change within an HIV prevention framework; 2) articulate the relationship between social determinants of health and structural change for HIV prevention; 3) apply a structural change perspective to your community, coalition, or agency work; and 4) identify opportunities to implement structural changes within the context of Affordable Care Act implementation.
