NACCHO's HIV/STI Prevention "Tool or Model Practice of the Week"

This week's featured tool from the HIV/STI Toolkit is the Reportable Disease Investigation Protocol. This tool provides general guidance for the investigation of reportable diseases. Topics covered include disease investigation, education regarding risk reduction, partner counseling and referral services, and treatment and vaccines, if applicable.  
NACCHO's Resource Center for Community Health Assessments and Community Health Improvement Plans
laptop and books NACCHO has developed the Resource Center for Community Health Assessments (CHAs) and Community Health Improvement Plans (CHIPs) to support local communities in their community health improvement efforts and to help LHDs meet relevant Public Health Accreditation Board Standards and Measures. This resource center is an online, publicly accessible venue that contains over 150 resources developed by and for health departments and their partners. NACCHO Advisory Group Applications due March 31
NACCHO is accepting applications for 2013-2014 advisory group and workgroup appointments through March 31. NACCHO's advisory groups and workgroups identify the opportunities and challenges facing LHDs and local public health. Request for Proposals: Contract to Conduct Client Surveys at STD Clinics
STD Surveillance Reports, 2007 NACCHO invites experienced research-oriented agencies, institutions, organizations, and individuals to submit proposals to conduct a clinic-based survey of clients accessing healthcare at local health department (LHD) STD clinics. The funder, CDC's Division of STD Prevention (DSTDP), will develop the survey questions and select 20 clinic sites in large urban jurisdictions in the United States. The selected clinics will provide a diverse demographic and geographic sample of jurisdictions with a high burden of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and/or syphilis. The Revised Congenital Syphilis Report Form: Webinar
The CDC's Division of STD Prevention is hosting a webinar on April 29 from 2:00-3:00PM EDT about the revised congenital syphilis report form to help colleagues understand, adopt, and use the most recent revision of the form. This webinar will cover new data elements and explain their public health importance, as well as new algorithms and the surveillance case definitions to determine congenital syphilis case classification. NASTAD's Health Reform Watch: Latest Edition
The latest edition of NASTAD's Health Reform Watch is now available. Health Reform Watch is a newsletter for health department staff that provides updates, analysis, and highlights on federal and state health reform activities. Topics in the latest edition include: Medicaid expansion, plan certification criteria for qualified health plans; and the Patient Navigator Program. UCHAPS Launches Search for New Board Members
The Board of Directors of the Urban Coalition for HIV/AIDS Prevention Services (UCHAPS) is seeking applications for new Board candidates. They ask for your assistance in distributing this Call for Nominations widely around your professional network and sphere of influence. The deadline to submit the nomination application is March 31, 2013.
