Los Angeles Area Helicopter Noise Coalition Petitions - Please Sign!
red helicopter
On October 20, 2015, four petitions were filed with the FAA asking them to develop regulations that would reduce helicopter noise.

These were: Helicopter Minimum Altitudes Petition - Require non-emergency helicopters to fly at least 2,000 feet above ground level, with some exceptions;

Helicopter Hover/Orbit Restrictions Petition Require media and tour helicopters to hover/orbit in any one location for no longer than five minutes in any one-hour period, with some exceptions;

Mandatory Media Helicopter Pooling Petition - Require media helicopters to plan for pooling coverage during planned and unplanned incidents;

and Shore Line Route Petition - Require helicopters flying along the coastline to fly at least one-half mile offshore to reduce noise onshore. The Los Angeles Area Helicopter Noise Coalition (LAAHNC) proposed regulations are fair and effective. They don't want any regulations to interfere with emergency helicopters (police, fire, medical, etc) in their performance of active missions. That's why all petitions include exemptions for such situations. However, the Coalition wants all helicopters including emergency responders not on active missions, to fly higher, hover less, pool resources, and fly further offshore where possible and safe. To succeed, strong public support is critical.

Public comments are needed in support of the petitions.  The LAAHNC website below has the links to comment on the official FAA dockets associated with each petition.      http://lahelicopternoise.org/mobilize/

If residents unite behind our efforts, then today can be the beginning of the end for excessive helicopter noise in Los Angeles County. You can help!  Visit the Los Angeles Area Helicopter Noise Coalition website at  http://lahelicopternoise.org/mobilize and tell the FAA and elected officials how badly we need helicopter noise regulations!

Beachwood Cafe

Why not wander into into the Cafe and have a meal and conversation with any one of the many neighbors you will run into? This IS family!

In days gone by, most neighbors would meet spontaneously in the local cafe and visit about all manner of neighborhood issues. We can do it again.
