Horse Rescued in Our Hollywood Hills!

From the beginning of this unfortunate event to the great ending, Los Angeles Fire Department both on the ground and in the sky displayed their teamwork and rescue skills! Two helicopters were involved throughout the more than three hour ordeal. A vet who works with Sunset Ranch came to save the day tending to the horse and preparing it for the airlift.

Our Fire Fighters rappelled down the side of the hill behind Mt Hollywood and into the ravine where the horse landed after tripping on uneven terrain. The vet followed and preparation was made to lift the horse up and over to Sunset Ranch.

This was no easy operation for the LAFD pilots. They had to fly very low in these hills in the dark most of the time. The area around Sunset Ranch was lit up to make it easy for the pilots but the blades were kicking up so much dirt and dust that it's a wonder how they actually judged how low they were getting to the ground. Guided by other LAFD and Sunset Ranch personnel on the ground, the pilots were told at just the right moment when to literally "drop" the line attached to the horse. This seemingly effortless rescue could not have been so successful without the extensively well trained LAFD forces.

Helicopter Noise Continues!
helicopter

This area has the highest number of complaint calls coming in. The time allowed for the tourist and media helicopters to change their ways has long passed. The next step is supposed to be the imposition of regulations for the first time ever in Los Angeles. As you know, Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Association has led the way with the support of almost every neighborhood association in the Mt. Lee area to get the FAA to mandate that these aircraft fly 2,000 feet above ground. Here's how YOU can help. When you hear and feel helicopters flying overhead, instead of tuning it out (which we all have become able to do), click on the link above and file a complaint. When this matter gets the attention it deserves, they will see that people are impacted on a daily basis and something must finally change.

Jeff & Karen invite you all to come to Hollywoodland Antiques for happy hour! They do this most every Friday from 5 - 7 p.m.!

Come in and have a glass of wine or a beer, snacks, and get to know your neighbors.

They look forward to seeing you this and every Friday! Join the newly formed tradition that's all the rage in Beachwood!

P.S. Stop in and ask to see some of Karen's hand painted creations. Some are wearing her shirts in the neighborhood. This is MUST SEE stuff.

P.S. & P.S. This is a total good vibe event - we have noticed neighbors walking down the street at around 5 pm on Friday, almost all headed for Happy Hour. What a perfect way build community! Sometimes there is a surprise theme!

Beachwood Cafe

Why not wander into into the Cafe and have a meal and conversation with any one of the many neighbors you will run into? This IS family!

In days gone by, most neighbors would meet spontaneously in the local cafe and visit about all manner of neighborhood issues. We can do it again.
