Universal Ramp Construction Update!

NBCUniversal is committed to keeping you informed as we move forward with regional traffic improvements. We are pleased to inform you that the number one requested improvement, the southbound Universal Studios Boulevard on-ramp, is well ahead of schedule and barring any weather delays, will be in operation between December 14 and 21.

We understand that construction is an inconvenience, which is why our team, in partnership with Caltrans, has worked tirelessly to complete this improvement as quickly as possible to get 70% of Universal Studios visitors off local roadways.

In order to complete work on the new on-ramp, and to ensure the safety of motorists and the construction team, the Barham Boulevard/Bennett Drive off-ramp must close. This is necessary to blend the new on-ramp to the existing freeway system and cannot be completed without the permanent closure.

The final closure is scheduled to take place no later than October 17, 2015.

To help manage the final closure and alert motorists to this change, we are going beyond the required notifications to help with this transition for all those who are affected. As part of that effort we will:

·         Secure Department of Transportation (DOT) officers to help with traffic during evening peak hours on weeknights until the new ramp opens.
·         Utilize the required portable message sign in a key area starting immediately to notify motorists of the final closure and directions to use the Lankershim/Regal off-ramp.
·         Add two portable message signs, above the notification requirements in additional areas to further alert motorists.
·         Modify existing overhead signs in the area, starting in mid-October, to notify motorists to use the Lankershim/Regal off-ramp to access Barham Boulevard.
Additionally, we are ahead of schedule on the southbound Lankershim Boulevard/Regal Place on-ramp improvements, and barring any weather or unforeseen issues, those improvements will also be completed by December.

As we move forward, please know that we are aware of how difficult the transition may be for some of you. We hope that if you have any further questions or concerns, you will contact us immediately at 818-363-3088 or will visit our website LatestUpdates.la, which will continue to be updated with the most current information.

We thank you for your patience and look forward to completing these projects.

Beachwood Happy Hour!

Jeff & Karen invite you all to come to Hollywoodland Antiques for happy hour! They do this most every Friday from 5 - 7 p.m.!

Come in and have a glass of wine or a beer, snacks, and get to know your neighbors.

They look forward to seeing you this and every Friday! Join the newly formed tradition that's all the rage in Beachwood!

P.S. Stop in and ask to see some of Karen's hand painted creations. Some are wearing her shirts in the neighborhood. This is MUST SEE stuff.

P.S. & P.S. This is a total good vibe event - we have noticed neighbors walking down the street at around 5 pm on Friday, almost all headed for Happy Hour. What a perfect way build community! Sometimes there is a surprise theme!

Beachwood Cafe

Why not wander into into the Cafe and have a meal and conversation with any one of the many neighbors you will run into? This IS family!

In days gone by, most neighbors would meet spontaneously in the local cafe and visit about all manner of neighborhood issues. We can do it again.
