YOU Are Invited to an Open House at:
The Hollywood Gallery and the Hollywood Sculpture Garden!
Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 3 - 6 p.m.

Neighbor, Dr Robby Gordon sees the world in colors and shapes. His house is set up as a gallery with 3 stories of amazing art. Every wall is covered with paintings, ceramics and glass. There is also a collection of hand painted ties, clothes and furniture. All the windows (15 of them) have hand painted blinds that go up and down by remote control. The windows frame a magnificent view into a unique sculpture garden with a view of downtown L.A. all the way to the ocean.

Besant Live Presents - Tribute To Manly P. Hall
with Stephan Hoeller
Sunday August 30 Doors open at 5:30 for the 6 p.m. Lecture

Besant Live Events will present a festive evening lecture with Stephan Hoeller commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the death of mystic teacher, esoteric scholar and founder of The Philosophical Research Society, Manly P. Hall.

The evening will be held in the historic and newly restored Besant Lodge where Manly P. Hall was the very first speaker to dedicate the just purchased Theosophical Society property with a lecture in 1955.

Come join Stephan Hoeller in an evening of reminiscences of this remarkable man. Stephan lectured at PRS for more than 20 years at the request of MPH and knew Mr. Hall intimately.

Come join the community in a night of remembrance of a one of a kind global teacher and Los Angeles icon, Manly Palmer Hall.

Donations welcome for this event

This program sponsored by Besant Lodge of Hollywood, a branch of the Theosophical Society of America, serving the Hollywood community since 1920

BCNA Summer Meeting Report

The summer meeting was a great success with the councilman and his staff talking to individual neighbors hearing their concerns and taking notes. Also, Senior Lead Officer Maggie Dillard talking to a whole lot of folks about their local issues. The room was packed with standing room only. People in the room came from far and wide. The Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Association now has a few more members!

This meeting was a breath of fresh air and people are still talking about it!

Cheremoya's 100th Anniversary

That's right. The school at the bottom of the hill (the landmark that is the gateway to Beachwood Canyon) will turn 100 this year!

The new principal, Steve Salva is starting to plan for the big event and a large part of this effort will be focused on trying to get in touch with former students and teachers. In order to help him, we are publishing class photos from various years. Do you know anyone from this class (1998 - 1999)? Are you an alumni of the school and interested in sharing a story or two? Have you attended Cheremoya School?

If so, e-mail Steve at ses8079@lausd.net.

Maybe you would like to help organize this great event or maybe offer a donation for the celebration.

Please make your check payable to Cheremoya Avenue Elementary School. Make sure to write the following in the memo on your check:  "100th Celebration"  Please mail your generous donation to:

Beachwood Happy Hour!

Jeff & Karen invite you all to come to Hollywoodland Antiques for happy hour! They do this most every Friday from 5 - 7 p.m.!

Come in and have a glass of wine or a beer, snacks, and get to know your neighbors.

They look forward to seeing you this and every Friday! Join the newly formed tradition that's all the rage in Beachwood!

P.S. Stop in and ask to see some of Karen's hand painted creations. Some are wearing her shirts in the neighborhood. This is MUST SEE stuff.

P.S. & P.S. This is a total good vibe event - we have noticed neighbors walking down the street at around 5 pm on Friday, almost all headed for Happy Hour. What a perfect way build community! Sometimes there is a surprise theme!

Beachwood Cafe

Why not wander into into the Cafe and have a meal and conversation with any one of the many neighbors you will run into? This IS family!

In days gone by, most neighbors would meet spontaneously in the local cafe and visit about all manner of neighborhood issues. We can do it again.
