Special Bulletin - Breaking News!

Action Requested ASAP!
This just in - please send your email tonight!

From Marian Dodge:

Can you & your organization members help our friends in the Sunset area by sending emails to your assemblymembers today?

Thanks!

Marian Dodge, President
Federation of Hillside and Canyon Associations

Here's what George Abrahams wrote to Assemblyman Bloom:

The ELDP program violates the fair hearing and due process rights and illegally prevents public participation in the CEQA process. There is no comment period before the Governor designates a project eligible for the ELDP program. The mere absence of action by the legislature is not a proper way to ratify the governor's decision. It is an abdication of legislative authority.

This came TODAY!

Hello All,

We need just 30 seconds of your time today, Please forward this letter to these email addresses by tonight! We just found out the vote is tomorrow to extend the 8150 ELDP!

SEND TO:

TITLE: The upcoming vote regarding SB743 -VOTE Against ELDP extensions

Honorable Senators, Assemblymen & women, ladies and gentlemen,

I am writing to express my dismay and concern about the rushing through of the ELDP extension 'fast track' that you are about to vote on. This will amend certain aspects SB743 to allow even less input from the community.

This blanket fast track will include one community destroying project at 8150 Sunset Boulevard here in Los Angeles that does not meet or deserve to have a ELDP designation in the first place. Unlike the Apple Campus or the Kings Stadium, this project is just tower-block of single bedroom condos without enough parking that will bring no new jobs into the neighborhood. This is also not a high density or high transit area.

Because of this I am reaching out to you to express my desire as a community member to re-examine every project that has been granted an EDLP and only then allow exceptions to be granted on real merit according to CEQA

I ask you to vote with the community and not the special interests.

Developers Worry California Ruling Could Dent Building

Millennium's concept drawing of their project. Please note the very tiny cars in an exaggerated broad street with no traffic and an empty lot next to Capitol where a 17-story tower is proposed to be built to not obstruct the view. This is one more example of the misrepresentation of the facts that we have to expose.

--------------

Dear Friends,

Please see this May 26, 2015 Wall St. Journal article about our Millennium battle.

"If you are doing development within any proximity to a freeway-which includes a great deal of development in Los Angeles-you're now going to have to consider Caltrans in your process in a greater way than before," Mr. Fields said.

"In Los Angeles we have a ton of horizontal density but people seem to react more to vertical density," Mr. LoGrande said. "The horizontal density scares me more."

These quotes from developer representatives and our City Planning director exemplify a total disconnect from the reality we experience every day as residents trying to live in the Hollywood community.

Yes, we want our local officials to listen to Caltrans when Caltrans says the Millennium project would have made the 101 Freeway impassible, and when Caltrans showed that the City was using doctored traffic counts.

Yes, we are concerned about over-development's impact on our ability to live in Hollywood. An out of town developer doesn't care, and why should he? He wants to build and leave town with his profits.

Yes, we want to preserve our environment and not allow it to be further degraded.

Please help us to do so. We are fighting for YOU, but we need your support to finish the fight against the Millennium disaster and to protect our victory going forward.
