HUNC About Millennium The following is from the most recent Hollywood United Neighborhood Council Newsletter The Millennium Towers Update
HUNC was pleased, though not surprised, with the recent Superior Court decision to throw out the EIR for the Millennium Towers. Having pointed out before the project was approved by the City Council that it would overwhelm the local infrastructure and cause traffic jams all around the project area we fully expected this result. While the judge may have found the Millennium's developer to have adequately studied the project's proximity to the Hollywood Fault, we expect that any new EIR will have to delve much deeper into this issue and that any new development proposal will have to clearly state what exactly is to be built, nor just a total square footage figure.
HUNC is not opposed to sensible development within certain height limits (under 22 stories) and other parameters (take into consideration impact on streets and other infrastructure, following due process and not cutting any corners). We encourage the City, the business community and local developers to work with us as an unaligned party. |
