Hollywood Orchard Loquat Pick TOMORROW!

Hi Orchardistas!!

Tom Amandes and I (Bill) are having a quick pick tomorrow with some new members. And if any other of you rampagers want to pick and process some 'quats, come on by. We will process a pile of it so everyone has fruit to take home.
(And A Place Called Home wants us to bring loquats to their Health Fair on April 25th to show folks how we use them.)

We are planning an 2-3 hour project for Saturday, April 11th PICKING LOQUATS.

LOQUAT SWAT:  BILL & TOM'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE

Saturday, April 11, 9 a.m. Starting at the Farmers Circle (2599 Glen Green Street, Hollywood), we'll pick two trees and process them, then head out in a couple small groups, and take to the Loquat trees. We'll be high-picking with pole pruners and catching with outstretched sheets. (Ripe loquats are tender souls...) It's a hoot...ask Emilee!

Hollywood Orchard Trees & Soils Production

Folks! If we've learned anything over the course of the last few years of crazy weather, it's that flexibility is a must. Two years ago, our huge Loco for Loquats pick hit in May. Last year, there were hardly any loquats to be picked, at all.

This year, Hollywood's got loquats. And they're pretty darn tasty. But they're going fast. We wanna get out there and pick a bunch before the crows and squirrels do all our work for us!

But rather than ramping up to a whole big Pickin' Kitchen, Pullman and I hatched a plan to put together something more like a Rapid Response Team. The Loquat Swat.

Are you Loco enough?

It'll be a quick, surgical, and when we're done we'll clean and do some quick processing. We'll put together a nice amount for A Place Called Home - you might wanna grab some for yourself - and be gone before the crows and squirrels know we were there!

April 11!  If you can come or not, please send us a note. That is, if you're up for an excellent adventure.
