Sad News: Victor's Restaurant Closing Its Doors - April 27th

Walking into Victor's Restaurant, you may be greeted with that radiant smile as Bill Gotti shows you to a table. Over your shoulder you may hear someone ask for a take-out order of Victor's Chicken Noodle Soup, "I need a quart of the soup to go for my ill neighbor." While you wait to be served, you look around the room at the large photos of old Hollywood taken from only a short walk from where you now sit. Neighbors and local neighborhood groups have flocked to Victor's Restaurant since Bill Gotti opened it in 1983. He came from a long stint at Greenblatt's Deli and brought with him the experience and knowledge of his past experience as a wine educator. He has been teaching people about wine since he was 28 years old. In 1975, Carole Lalli did a review of Bill's expert tastings and educational offerings in a segment called Best Bets.
Lalli referred to Gotti as a "fugitive from the New York Stock Exchange" and "one the friendliest wine experts in Los Angeles."
Since the opening of Victor's Restaurant, people have learned to count on the place for a great meal, a gathering, a hideaway and simply a place to call home.
Bill freely shares his knowledge of wine and food pairing while making the patron feel completely relaxed and cared for.
Sadly, Victor's lease has come to an end and the restaurant will close its doors forever on April 26th.
Bill wants to reposition himself in the wine business, and as a sommelier and wine educator, he has much to offer.
There are no words to express what he feels for the many neighbors whom he considers his friends and family. No doubt, we will all be hearing of his tasting and pairing events but one thing is certain, you can't let this place close without stopping by for a meal and a hug. Pick up one of his cards so you won't lose touch with Bill & Lucy Gotti. Feel free to tell him what his restaurant and his friendship has meant to you along the way. Family should stay together! And what about that Chicken Noodle Soup? Stay tuned. You may see Bill Gotti's Chicken Noodle Soup available locally soon.
