Council District 4 DEBATES

On March 3, we have a very important election for the new City Council District 4. Councilman Tom LaBonge will vacate his seat in July due to term limits so this is an open seat. There are 14 candidates running for this office. We hope you can attend at least one of these debates. To read up on the candidates, go to smartvoter.org.

LOCATION: Globe Theatre at Universal Studios Hollywood

This debate will include the top runners campaigning to replace Tom Labonge as the City Councilmember for Council District 4.

This event is hosted by Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council and Hollywood United Neighborhood Council.

Car Thefts in Canyon Neighborhoods

A Note from Nichols Canyon Neighbor, Tyler:

In light of the recent car related incidents around our neighborhood, I thought it would be good to notify you of recent car theft activity in adjacent canyons. More specifically vintage Porsches being stolen by a white pickup truck with towing capacity.

My hope would be that our neighbors can be more aware of such activity.

Hollywood Hills Theft Alert

Recently, in Nichols Canyon, the owners of a classic '61 convertible Porsche discovered that the car had been stolen from their closed and locked garage. The Porsche is a silver convertible with a black interior.

The car theft has been reported to the police, who informed the owners that there is a white truck with towing capabilities going around the Hollywood Hills stealing Porsches. This white truck has a towing mechanism on its rear and has been caught on a video, but the license plate was not seen on the video. The police said that there have been about 8 Porsches stolen this last week or so, and the activity is in the Hollywood Hills.

If you have a Porsche (any year), be extra diligent. If you see a white truck with towing capabilities in the neighborhood, please observe, take down the license plate and call the Hollywood Police station at 213/485-4328. If you live on or near La Castana and have a video surveillance system, please look recent footage to see if you filmed the white truck in question and if so report it to the police.

Thanks for your vigilance, and let's all keep an eye our for each other so that we can keep any further thefts or burglaries from occurring over the holidays.
