Wizzer is Missing

Wizzer has been missing for a month from Floyd Terrace and Blair Drive area. She is 16 years old and a feral cat, but is friendly to people if she feels safe. She has lived in my home as an indoor/outdoor cat since she was a baby kitten. Her name is Wizzer and she loves wet food. She's shy because she is feral but is very vocal and, if you don't make fast, sudden moves, she may come to you. She has become very friendly in her 16 years and is super sweet! She has no collar on.

If you should see her, please contact me:

Trash Talk

What does it take to make a neighborhood look and feel inviting? The streets of Beachwood Canyon are some of the narrowest, winding streets in the Hollywood Hills. On most streets, there's only room for one car and patience is born in our hearts as we sit patiently waiting for one car at a time to duck in and out of spaces between parked cars.

Clearly, there's little parking left on our streets. While we are waiting for preferential parking to start, let's look at what we CAN control.

Let's talk trash -- our personal trash cans. The city's trash receptacle laws have few teeth, but they do make sense. Don't put trash bins out before 6 p.m. the night before and pull them in by 8 p.m. on collection day. When we fail to do that, we are adding obstacles that often cause cars to have less space than already available. Who want's that chaos on our narrow roadways when we have so many other challenges to safe passage in this canyon?

So, what's the bottom line to trash talk? Put them out, take them back out of the street right away. If you're already doing this, consider you are part of the vehicular access solution.

If you have physical or scheduling limitations restricting you ability to manage your containers, ask for some help from one of your neighbors. If you're shy about that, send us an email and let's work something out. We'll find some great folks willing to pop by on Friday afternoon and tuck your cans back for you. Just say the word.

Beachwood Cafe
Why not wander into into the Cafe and have a meal and conversation with any one of the many neighbors you will run into? This IS family!

In days gone by, most neighbors would meet spontaneously in the local cafe and visit about all manner of neighborhood issues. We can do it again.
