How Wide is YOUR Street?

These streets are so very narrow that we often wonder how parking is allowed. The image below was lifted from Tom Labonge's most recent newsletter. It asks the question, When is it unsafe to park on a street? And the answer is quite interesting:

If your street is 18' or less in width, it is unsafe and illegal to park on any side.

If you live near a curve on a narrow street, it is unsafe to park near the curved area if it will prevent emergency vehicles from passing.

If your street is between 18' and 25' in width, it is unsafe for vehicles to be parked on both sides of the street. Parking is allowed on one side only.

It is unsafe and illegal to park within 15' of a fire hydrant.

So, now you know the rules. Are you ready to measure and report? Please send your street address and the measurements you took and we will ask for a review of that street.

Beachwood Cafe
Why not wander into into the Cafe and have a meal and conversation with any one of the many neighbors you will run into? This IS family!

In days gone by, most neighbors would meet spontaneously in the local cafe and visit about all manner of neighborhood issues. We can do it again.

Dog Wants a Kitty

There's a message at the end of this really sweet video.

Walk Your Doggie Safely

Here's one way you can stay safe walking your dog at night in the canyon. There are many different models and manufacturers of LED leashes. But this one gets a thumbs up from our Westshire neighbor, Soren:

It costs approximately $14 from Amazon.com but they had only two left in stock at the time of this posting.

Some suggest Miss Mustard Seed's Hemp Oil instead of olive oil because it's not a drying oil and won't attract dust.

Thoughts to Live By

"There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it.

You surround yourself with people who make you laugh.  Forget the bad, and focus on the good.

Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't.

Life is too short to be anything but happy.

Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living."
