We're absolutely right. We were right all along.

State Geologist Dr. John Parrish confirmed on January 8th, 2014 what Stop The Millennium Hollywood (STMH) has been saying in public hearing after public hearing for over a year -- that a branch of the Hollywood Fault runs straight through the middle of the Millennium Project sites. Not just one branch of the Hollywood Fault but a second branch the crosses the northeast corner of the east site. Moreover, the faults project into the north side of the Blvd6200 project and cross the Yucca apartment project on the southeast corner of Yucca and Argyle. None of this information was in geology reports for any of these projects and the L.A. Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) geologist approved all of the geology reports without catching the obvious errors. The seismic studies by Crook and Proctor (1992) and Dolan et. al. (1997) and the 2010 California Geological Survey Fault Activity Map were well known in the scientific literature, to the geologists who prepared their reports for the developers and to the City geologist who approved them. But all that information was ignored. The State Geologist was so alarmed by the warnings of STMH that the proper oversight was not being conducted by LADBS that he immediately pushed Alquist-Priolo mapping of the Hollywood Fault to the top of his priority list and even sent a warning letter to the City shortly before the City Council vote approving the Millennium Project that they should wait until the map was completed before proceeding with any further project approvals.

But did the City Council listen? No. They were so besotted by the $4.7 million in lobbying money that Millennium Partners shoveled around City Hall and the tens of thousands in campaign contributions that the Councilmembers and the Mayor received that the voices of the citizens were drowned out. Now the State has vindicated STMH. Thanks to your help and the help of many others, we were able to carry the effort far enough to win this fight for the lives of thousands of Angelenos.

But the fight is not over. Phil Aarons reneged on his promise to do trenching on his project sites while saying that there is no fault there and that nothing has changed. He is still pursuing his opposition to our litigation. We must not falter. As you can see, your contributions were well used. Can you please help us keep up the fight?
