Be on the Lookout

PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR PROPERTY

Don't be a Victim
A MESSAGE FROM THE LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
(HOLLYWOOD DIVISION)

Be on the lookout for a light colored Mercedes 4-door with a male black and possibly another occupant. They have been linked to two burglaries in the hills. Try to get a license plate and a good description of the suspects and vehicle.

Door knockers are on the rise. Get a good description and a photo if you can. Our Burglary taskforce is on board with this investigation.

Below is a list of ideas that you can follow to protect your vehicle from being stolen and your home from being burglarized:

· Make sure your vehicle is locked and secured at all times.
· Never leave items in your vehicle, especially in plain view.
· Park your vehicle in a well-lighted area.
· Always lock your residence windows and doors prior to leaving.
· Install motion lights around your property (lighting is the number one deterrent for burglars).
· Be a good neighbor and observer; report all suspicious activity with "lost persons" or trespassers, no matter how insignificant it might seem. Be aware of suspicious vehicles, persons and phone calls.
· Take note of vehicle descriptions and license plates.
· Have someone check on your residence while you're away.
· Don't let newspapers or mail accumulate.
· If you leave your lights on while you're gone, use timers.
· Talk to your police about any problems in your neighborhood.
