Labonge to Hold Beachwood Meeting Wed Aug 14th at 7 p.m.
Do you live in Hollywoodland/Beachwood Canyon? Have you noticed an increase in traffic on the weekends? This is not a tourist vs local issue. This is a public safety issue.
This meeting gives you the opportunity to share your experience living in this canyon! Please, take time from your schedule and attend this meeting!
Soon after the second season of our harvesting and "kitchen-ing" came to a close in May, the film The Fruit Hunters began to be screened at environmental film festivals around the world. The film includes the story of our first year and how our band of neighbors created a new model for grassroots participation in local food sourcing. The word is out: we use the age-old "Threshing Bee" idea, and it's all right under the iconic Hollywood sign!
And it's a hit!
As of July 22nd, the film has become available to rent or buy from Amazon.com and iTunes - where it has hit the top ten list!
So... Congrats Orchardistas for your full commitment to creating a new model for fruit fun, community engagement, and tree-to-table knowledge sharing!
Also: Keep your eyes peeled for Hollywood Orchard products soon to be for sale at the Beachwood Cafe!
Enjoy the rest of your summer in the fruitful canyons of Hollywood!

Good News! Parking Meter Laws Make Parking Easier in Hollywood
No longer will people get ticketed in Los Angeles for parking at a broken meter.
Assemblymember Gatto has won a victory for those of us in Hollywood that realize the need for parking in Hollywood. The vote happened on July 29, 2013 to rescind a recent law that would allow ticketing of cars parked at broken parking meters.
