Interior design takes training as well as talent. This course will show you how to transform plain living spaces into beautiful and functional rooms. These lessons will give you the know-how you need to design a room from floor to ceiling. Color theory, floor plans, traditional and modern interior design ideas, "green" sustainable design and designing for people with special needs are covered in the course. Your new knowledge and hands-on practice will give you the confidence to start creating residential interiors for yourself and others.
This free online course is offered through Gale Courses, which provides access to hundreds of instructor-led online courses covering everything from health and wellness to creative writing, computer programming, GED test preparation and much more.
The six-week classes begin December 9.

Upcoming Holiday Observances and Special Closings

 Fun Activities in December @ your Cobb libraries Lots of crafts, games, and other fun hands-on activities are scheduled for December at Cobb County libraries. Join in and be creative!
Kids Create! at the West Cobb Regional Library on Saturday, December 5, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Wednesday, December 16, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Make a cool craft project with us. All ages. All materials are provided. The same monthly craft program is offered both dates. (770) 528-4699

Artsy Smartsy: School Age Art Club at the Gritters Library meets Wednesday afternoon on December 9 and December 16, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fun for ages 5-10! Learn about art and explore paintings, sculpture and architecture. Each class includes a story, analysis of works of art and a hands-on experience of art-making with a project to take home.  'Star Wars' Sci-Fi Parties Before 'The Force Awakens'
Cobb libraries are hosting Sci-Fi parties full of activities ahead of the opening of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in December.

 Movies for All Ages
Movie screenings at Cobb libraries in December include films for all ages and a range of genres. Screenings include:
The Teen Cinema & Anime Club meets at the East Cobb Library on Saturday, December 5, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. For teens in grades 6-12. The program includes a movie or shows, snacks and other activities. No registration is required. Next month's meeting is scheduled for January 2.

Free Computer Classes
Cobb County Public Library System offers free introductory computer classes on the skills of using a computer, email, and e-Readers. Registration is required and space is limited.

- Monday, January 4: Downloading e-books to your Kindle, Mountain View Regional Library, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- Tuesday, January 5: Downloading e-books to your iPad/iPhone, Mountain View Regional Library, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- Wednesday, January 6: Downloading e-books to your Nook/Android device, Mountain View Regional Library, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

 Sunday Hours @ Switzer
Switzer Library in Marietta is open Sunday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Sunday hours will be in effect through May 22, 2016, coinciding with the 2015-2016 school year for Cobb County and Marietta City public schools - open even through Winter Break. The library will be closed March 27 for the Easter holiday.
