This free online course is offered through 
 Gale Courses, which provides access to hundreds of instructor-led online courses covering everything from health and wellness to creative writing, computer programming, GED test preparation and much more.
 
The six-week classes begin December 10.

Upcoming Holiday Observances and Special Closings

 

The Cobb County Public Library System wishes everyone a happy holiday season! We look forward to seeing you at the library in December.


 

The library system will be closed on the following dates:

  • Christmas: close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, and closed Thursday, December 25 and Friday, December 26
  • New Year's: close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31; reopen on Friday, January 2
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Monday, January 19

Fun School Age Activities @ your Cobb Libraries

 

Several programs for school age children featuring crafts, games and other activities are scheduled for December at Cobb libraries. Get creative and have fun!

 

The lineup of children's programs includes:

 

Lego Warriors at Powder Springs Library on Wednesday, December 3, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. A creative program for children of all ages.

 

Crafty Readers - Marshmallow Snowmen at Mountain View Regional Library on Tuesday, December 9, 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. For K-3rd graders, no younger siblings please.


 

Let's Read Favorites, Krafty Kids at East Cobb Library on Wednesday, December 10, 3:30 p.m. All ages welcome!


 

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Party! at Switzer Library on Saturday, December 13, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program for the Saturday before the final Hobbit film is released includes book discussion, games and other activities. All ages of Hobbit fans invited to participate!


 

School Age Movie and Craft at Acworth Library on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:14 p.m. with unique seasonal programs on December 3,  December 10, December 17, December 24, and December 31.


 

Board Game Fun at the Library! at Acworth Library on Monday, December 22 and Monday, December 29, noon to 2 p.m. both dates.

 You're invited to the library's Digital Device Demo Days! Stop by the library for information about using your eReader, tablet, or other device with the library's digital collection. Drop by anytime between 2 and 4 p.m. to say hi to the digital services librarians, and while you're there, you can also:

  • Get information about our eBooks, eReaders and digital magazines
  • Ask questions about your devices
  • Find out what devices work with our collection

Films in December @ your Cobb libraries 

Catch a film at a Cobb library in December. Screenings include:

The 'Tis the Season Movies Series at Switzer Library will feature screenings each Monday starting at 6 p.m. through December 22. The lineup is December 1:
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation; December 8: Elf; December 15: A Christmas Story; and December 22: The Nativity Story.

 

The Family Movies series at Switzer Library on Saturdays at 3 p.m. The screenings include December 6: The Nutcracker; December 13: Babes in Toyland; December 20: How the Grinch Stole Christmas; and December 27: The Muppet Christmas Carol.


 

The Super Saturday Matinee series at Powder Springs Library starts at 3 p.m. The December lineup is: December 6: Little Miss Marker; December 13: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang; December 20: Around the World in 80 Days; and December 27: Swiss Family Robinson.
