| Greetings! | |
Are You Ready For the Season To Begin?
Welcome to the April 2015 edition of The Dive Industry Professional. The pre-season marketing push at all of the dive shows and adventure travel shows is winding down for the year and front line dive businesses are gearing up for the season. A successful outcome will happen if we plan properly, execute our plan and follow-up to see that we are completing our plan. That's one way of achieving our desired outcomes. The other way is Luck!
The good news in the industry is that people are diving. They are going to dive shows. BTS had a great attendance. They are attending events related to diving, like the Rapa Nui Reef Project. Young people are coming into the sport like Daniel Copeland, the 2015 European Rolex Scholar. Our customers are out there spending money and if you aren't getting your fair share, it's time to change the things you are doing to achieve your desired outcomes.
Have a great season,
Gene Muchanski Editor, The Dive Industry Professional

Daniel Copeland Selected 2015 European Rolex Scholar of the Our World-Underwater Scholarship Society.
It is a great pleasure to announce that Mr. Daniel Copeland, age 23, from North Wales has been selected to be the 2015 European Rolex Scholar of the Our World-Underwater Scholarship Society. Daniel Copeland, 23, has always enjoyed learning about, understanding and experiencing different aspects of the natural world. Despite this underlying passion, and a childhood living along the coast of North Wales, his plan throughout most of high school was to follow a path in electronic media and graphic design. It wasn't until he took his first breathes underwater during an introductory ocean dive in a harbor in Malta, that Daniel's love for the underwater world rapidly bubbled to the surface. During that dive, he was captivated by an unlikely encounter with a colorful and curious cuttlefish - an experience that changed the direction of his life forever. Read more

Something BIG Is Going DOWN in Deerfield Beach, Florida
Something very exciting is happening in Deerfield Beach, Florida on Sunday, June 7, 2015. A barge with fifteen concrete Moai Heads will be sunk ½ mile off shore in seventy feet of water. This elaborate public art project may be one of the most interesting dive sites ever created. The Rapa Nui Reef Project is the vision of Margaret Blume, Founder and Benefactor. Margaret wanted to do something BIG in environmental conservation using art. She had an idea about creating an underwater park and... Read more

Nominate Gene Muchanski For 2016 NAUI Board of Directors
- I am running for the NAUI Board of Directors this fall and I am asking for your nomination, endorsement, support and your vote. NAUI has made incredible gains in the past two years and I would like to continue that success by adding balance to an already talented board by contributing what I know about sales, marketing, management, successful business practices and the competitive nature of the diving industry.
This year's election will be all about building a strong NAUI Headquarters again. As part-time Directors with their own jobs, the Board Members can only do so much. In order to grow the association and become competitive in the industry once again, NAUI Headquarters must be re-built on a strong foundation. In the coming months I will outline specific things that NAUI could be doing to regain its Leadership role in the industry, based on conversations I am having with successful NAUI Members across the country and internationally.
