January 23, 2014 McDonald's Corporation today announced results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2013, reflecting higher revenues and earnings per share for both periods compared with the prior year. Full Article �

Dunkin' Brands reported a 23 percent jump in fourth-quarter profit. The company topped Wall Street expectations for profit and revenue, raised its quarterly dividend 21 percent and announced a two-year share buyback program of as much as $125 million. Full Article �

Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. reported financial results for its fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2013. Revenue increased 20.7% to $844.1 million and Comparable restaurant sales increased 9.3%.

Starbucks Corporation reported financial results for its 13-week fiscal first quarter ended December 29, 2013. Consolidated net revenues increased 12% to $4.2 billion and Global comparable store sales grew 5%, driven by a 4% increase in traffic.  Full Article � 


Bob Evans Farms, Inc. Cites Factors Affecting Fiscal 2014 Third-Quarter Performance. This has not always been so, but in the last 20 years, with the emergence of an American cuisine and the increasing sophistication of our palates, this country has flexed its muscles in the world of restaurants. Many of our chefs are now ranked among the finest in the world, and some of the very best compete with each other and their international brethren in this arena called Manhattan. As someone who loves restaurants and dines out frequently, I consider myself fortunate to live in this city. Having said all that, some observations of late, on trends in dining and restaurants, call I believe, for some creative opportunity-taking as we slide into 2014.  Full Article �

The winter season for 2014 has gotten off to a rough start; however there are some encouraging signs to remain hopeful that we've turned the corner to better days ahead for the rest of 2014. Though this past Friday's Job's Report for January was disappointing for many seeking employment, many pointed to the "Polar Vortex" as the root cause for the weak data. Many service related jobs like Construction among others were impacted because the snow and brutal weather conditions impact building schedules etc.
