| The Mesopotamia High Country Walk |
Amazing Panoramas !
The Mesopotamia High Country Walk is an awe-inspiring four day fully guided walking tour, which includes the Mesopotamia High Country Station and the spectacular Peel Forest Scenic Reserve.
The station gained its early fame from the first owner - Samuel Butler - the renowned English writer and author of the brilliant satire Erewhon..... which was based on the wonderful landscapes found in the area. Your knowledgeable and friendly guide will entertain you with the history of Butler and the resilient families who broke in and farmed this wonderful land.
You will experience soaring landscapes, snow capped mountain ranges and wide open tussock covered tundras. High country stations have a unique part in the history of New Zealand and the early pioneering characters have been immortalised in print in numerous books covering this era.

Ellerslie Flower Show 2013
| |
The Ellerslie International Flower Show
is bringing Weta Workshop to Christchurch, with their fantasy sculptures featuring in former All Black Andy Ellis and landscape architect Danny Kamo's gold medal winning entry from the Singapore Garden Festival.
The international award-winning garden by design duo Kamo and Ellis has been adapted and will provide the stunning setting for Johnny Fraser-Allen's The Gloaming exhibition, curated and presented by Sir Richard Taylor and Tania Rodger from Weta Workshop.
Kamo and Ellis are thrilled their garden - that won gold in July last year at the Singapore Garden Festival against 15 of the world's top garden designers - has been given a new twist. It will still feature the cave that was created by Weta Workshop previously, but the shaking movement has been removed.
"This is something really different that we are sure will transport young and old alike into a world of fantasy. It is great to be able to adapt the garden and work on something new for the show," Kamo, of KamoMarsh Landscape Architects, says.
The pair has twice competed at Ellerslie International Flower Show, winning Gold, the Supreme Award for Design Excellence, Silver and a Lighting Award.
Take in some of the best of the South Island while visiting the Ellerslie Flower Show. Try a walking or cycling tour with Tuatara Tours.

| |
Filva and Vitamin are here to melt your hearts
- and get you to visit Scotland.
One Shetland pony. That's Cute. Two Shetland ponies. Cuter still. Two Shetland ponies ...
wearing woolly jumpers. Yes, Visit Scotland knows exactly how to make the world say "awwww".
Fivla and Vitamin are the tourism body's official ambassadors for its Year of Natural Scotland
campaign and will undoubtedly result in a huge influx of visitors.
The pair, who are wearing snug, custom-made "onesies" knitted from local Shetland wool in
the pics, were chosen to show Scotland's softer, cuddlier side.
A spokeswoman from Visit Scotland: "With Shetland wool and knitwear being so in demand, it seemed like a fun way to celebrate Shetland's natural landscapes, products and heritage."
If Scotland is bit too far for you, contact us at Tuatara Tours to see what is available closer to home.

| Courgettes | |
The courgette is a variety of cucurtbit, which means it's from the same family as cucumber, squash and melon. It is the most popular vegetable of the squash family, being extremely versatile, tender and easy to cook. Just don't boil them! They have a deep green skin with firm pale flesh and are also known as zucchini. From January to April this is probably the most prolific and versatile vegetable available. Try courgettes this way for a quick mouthwatering dish- Cut your courgettes in half lengthwise and trim the ends so they are approximately all the same size
- Score the fleshy inside of the courgette in a criss-cross pattern with a sharp knife
- Brush with fleshy inside with avocado or olive oil
- Smear the fleshy side with sweet chilly sauce
- Season to taste with salt and pepper
Grill on a BBQ flat plate for a couple of minutes skin side down and then flip the over for 1 minute maximum. Eat straight away to get the best from your grilled courgettes. Enjoy

Sunburn - Be Careful Out There!
|
We all know that smart cookies don't burn, but even the most obsessive sunscreen appliers among us sometimes get caught short. Here's how to ease that sore, itchy skin while you sit inside, berating yourself for being so stupid.
COOL DOWN
A nasty sun burn will feel hot and painful. Wrap an ice pack in a damp flannel and apply it to your burnt spots to calm the angry fire. A cool shower can also be a great way to reduce the heat.
CALM DOWN
Aloe vera is nature's skin hero, and the number one soother for burns. Apply an after sun gel that contains aloe vera to calm the burn and help speed up the healing process.
CONDITION
Any exposure to the sun causes the skin to dry out, so sunburnt skin is even more parched. It's also extremely sensitive, so avoid any highly perfumed products or anything with a heavy chemical base. Natural vegetable oils are the most simple and cost-effective way to hydrate the skin. Try coconut oil, olive, avocado, argan, rosehip or sea bucktorn oils, or a healing balm or product containing a combination of these.
