| The Kaikoura Trail |
Mix Up The Walking And The Cycling
From the Mountains to the Sea!
The four-day, fully guided, Kaikoura Trail runs from Waiau to Kaikoura. This is the second leg of what has been described as the Alpine Pacific Triangle. It is also arguably the most interesting section of the triangle as it descends from the mountains to the sea - with a diverse range of landscape, vistas and geology.
On the Kaikoura Trail you get to cycle the undulating parts and walk (off-road) the high country sections. The mix of walking and cycling has allowed Tuatara Tours to develop an achievable adventure which combines soaring mountain views with good cycling terrain past the green pastures of North Canterbury farms.
To see this pristine area at its best this is the best Kaikoura tour to be part of.

| Are You Guilty? - The Worst 25 Passwords of 2012 | |
If any of your passwords are on this list, NOW is the time to change them.
It doesn't take that much time to make a new password.
You should have different passwords for all your accounts. To make it easier to remember them all, think about passwords as "passphrases."
For instance, use a phrase like "dog eats bone" and add underscores, dashes, hyphens and other punctuation marks to satisfy the special-character requirement: "dog_eats_bone!"

Here's the full list
1. password 14. sunshine 2. 123456 15. master 3. 12345678 16. 123123 4. abc123 17. welcome 5. qwerty 18. shadow 6. monkey 19. ashley 7. letmein 20. football 8. dragon 21. jesus 9. 111111 22. michael 10. baseball 23. ninja 11. iloveyou 24. mustang 12. trustno1 25. password1 13. 1234567

| Freedom Camping Rules Clarified | |
The Department of Conservation (DOC) is making clear where people can freedom camp this summer on conservation land. Under the Freedom Camping Act, camping is expressly prohibited in areas clearly identified with relevant signage. At the same time, DOC has clarified sites that are now available to self contained campervans to stay overnight
'It's really good that we have clarity around the issue now', says Neil Clifton who has been managing the changes for DOC's freedom camping options. 'While opportunities abound for freedom camping on public conservation land there are also some restrictions that ensure that everyone gets to enjoy special places in a pristine condition rather than spoiled and soiled from misuse.'
'We want people to get out and enjoy our natural heritage but we also want them to camp responsibly.' says Clifton 'We are part of a campaign to encourage responsible camping and this initiative will directly benefit New Zealand's clean image.
Avoid the rush, join us on one of our many walking or cycling tours this New Year.

| 7 Lucky New Years Eve Foods. | |
Many of the foods people around the world traditionally eat for luck to ring in the New Year are also good for you. Here are 7 lucky new year's foods (yes, 7 is a lucky number) worth including at your gathering for a year of prosperity and good health!
- Greens: Supposedly greens are eaten on New Year's Eve because they resemble money
- Beans: like greens, resemble money. More specifically, they symbolize coins
- Fish is lucky for a couple of reasons. Its scales resemble money and fish swim in schools which invoke the idea of abundance. There are also plenty of nutritional benefits.
- Fruit of many kinds is consumed on New Year's Eve. The Mexicans pop a grape for each stroke of midnight. Each one represents a month. If it's bitter, watch out for that month!
- Noodles and grains: (rice, quinoa, barley) are symbols of long life and abundance respectively. Slurp the noodles whole for even more luck
- Pork: Pigs are a lucky symbol because they root forward and are rotund. Traditionally, in the south USA, pork, beans and greens are combined in a dish called Hoppin' John for New Year's Eve
- Cake: Ring shaped cakes-sometimes with trinkets baked inside-are a symbol of coming full circle

Be Careful Out There!
| A Polish man has gone to extreme lengths to get out of doing the ironing by burning the entire side of his face after mistaking the iron for a telephone.
Tomasz Paczkowski may now have an excuse for life when his wife next asks him to help out with the chores, proving to be more of a hindrance than a help.
Polish newspaper Fakt has reported Paczkowski was now swathed in bandages, but appeared to be in good spirits.
"My wife had gone to work," the 32-year old told the Polish newspaper Fakt.
"After breakfast I started to work. I turned on the boxing channel on the TV, opened a beer and started ironing.
"I was really getting involved in the boxing and was not really thinking about what I was doing.
"Suddenly the phone rang and I mucked things up.
"Instead of grabbing the receiver I picked up the iron and put it to my ear."
Paczkowski said it did not take long to realise his mistake.
Despite firing the hospital pass of chores straight back to his wife, the dutiful husband said he would continue to help with the ironing
