University of Minnesota-Duluth Member Passes to Chapter Eternal

ELKRIDGE, MD - Phi Sigma Sigma Fraternity extends our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Kailey Erin O'Connor, 18, who passed away early Saturday morning after a long battle with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

Kailey was initiated into the Iota Zeta Chapter in April 2014. She was a freshman at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, studying psychology. According to her chapter sisters, Kailey knew her time was limited, and one of her wishes was to be a member of a sorority, a dream that came true when she was extended an invitation to join the Iota Zeta Chapter.

"She was just so authentic in sharing her story with us. She was someone we wanted in our chapter and in our letters. We're going to miss the presence that she had. She was always so positive and was so grateful to be here," said Chapter President Allison Remple. Remple also said the chapter plans to fundraise money for the cause of Kailey's family's choosing when they return to campus next month.

"My heart goes out my Iota Zeta sisters and Kailey's family and friends. The impact that Kailey and the chapter had on each other defines true sisterhood," said International President Alicia Scott. Phi Sigma Sigma is working with university officials to provide support and counseling to our members.
