Last year over 650 volunteers at St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity donated over 17,000 hours of their time to help change lives.  We have opportunities available for all skill levels at the Eco-Village worksite, at the ReStore in  New Richmond  and starting this spring and with our anticipated "Brush with Kindness" rehab program we will have even more opportunities to help change lives. Volunteer today! What better way to start the new year than volunteering. Contact us now at 715.425.5623

St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity has already helped 86adults and 178 children within our 58 quality homes in local cities throughout the St. Croix and Pierce Counties and also supported construction of 41 homes internationally.

Thank you, community, volunteers, and family partners, for all the support in the past year. You have made building safe, decent, affordable homes a reality in our community.

Staff of the Month
Joel Palmquist- Construction Manager

Anyone volunteering at a build site knows Joel Palmquist, SCVHFH's full-time construction-site supervisor. He had been helping Habitat for many years before accepting the position formally in 2008.

A carpenter and former university employee, he began volunteering to build Habitat houses 27 years ago after a couple he heard speak at church uprooted themselves to start a Habitat in Utah. Their actions inspired him.

Besides volunteering for most builds in St. Croix Valley, he also served on the board and chaired the construction committee. Joel says he enjoys seeing everyone work as a team and that the homes make a big difference in people's lives, especially children's.

His duties consist of leading home construction, partnering with volunteers, donors and materials suppliers to keep construction moving!

Volunteer of the Month
Carol Merriman, Vice President

Carol Merriman retired from Andersen Corporation after 29 years. She spends a lot of her time now volunteering for her church and other groups. Many years ago "I signed up to work on a Habitat house through work.... and I was hooked! I took every opportunity Andersen allowed to help on weekend builds and more recently Womens' Builds and blitz builds with Twin City Habitat....Volunteering, working to help others in need, is the main reason I retired (I didn't have time for work!)"

She has been a board member since 2007, President for 3 years, and currently Vice President.
