First Day of School at Terrell ISD
Terrell ISD's 2015-2016 school year is off to a great start! Students were welcomed back to school on August 24 by our incredible teachers and staff. We are excited for what this new year holds for TISD and look forward to increasing student achievement in all areas!

Terrell ISD campuses earned six distinctions for academic student achievement according to state test scores released by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Additionally, TISD students made progress in the vast majority of student categories measured.
"The distinctions earned, and the progress made on our state test scores are a direct reflection of our dedicated teachers and staff," TISD Superintendent Micheal French said. "We have asked a lot of our teachers over the past two years, and they have stepped up their instruction in order to better serve our students. I am so proud of both our educators and our students."

 Terrell ISD Elementary Math and Science Student Achievement Coordinator Julie Kuhn never imagined that her first trip out of the United States would be to an island half way around the world. She traveled to Guam in August with the Charles A. Dana Center to advance math education for children on U.S. military bases.
The Dana Center at the University of Texas at Austin has been awarded a $12.7 million dollar contract by the U.S. Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) to provide consistent and high-level math instruction for teachers stationed on military bases in 13 countries. Kuhn was one of 100 applicants selected nationwide to join the Dana Center team.

This August, Terrell ISD hosted a Citywide Back-to-School Fair that provided free backpacks, school supplies, hair cuts, immunizations and clothing for every student in TISD. The tremendous success of this event was made possible by the generous support and involvement of our Terrell community.
On behalf of TISD, thank you to all the community members who donated and volunteered your time and resources to serve the families of TISD.
We are so grateful for your willingness to invest in the lives of our students. Whether you cooked hot dogs, cut hair, collected trash, donated money, distributed clothing, collected tickets, set up tables or attended as a vendor, you were a vital part of our team.
People like you make us Terrell Proud and Tiger Strong!

Terrell Tigers Win Big!
The JV and Varsity volleyball teams brought home wins last Friday night; JV winning 2-0 and Varsity winning 3-0 over Seagoville. Great job lady Tigers!
The Terrell Varsity Football team also earned the first win of the 2015-2016 season on Friday, August 28. The Tigers decisively beat Little Elm 33-7, earning Coach Mike Shields his 100th career win.
Congratulations to Coach Shields and the entire Tiger team. This is a great way to start the season Terrell Proud and Tiger Strong!

Our very own Terrell Tiger varsity cornerback Kanodrick Richardson is nominated for the Dallas Morning News Week 1 SportsDayHS Hero award!
In Friday night's game against Little Elm, Kanodrick had six tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one pass deflection.
