Income Limits Updated
Earlier this month, the Keep Your Home California Income Limits were updated to reflect changes in the Area Median Income for multiple counties. In all, there were ten counties that saw their household income limit increase and no counties that experienced a decrease.

Keep Your Home California is designed for low and moderate income homeowners.  In order to qualify for assistance, applicants' household income must be below the program income limits for the county in which they live. With the recent increases, there may be homeowners who previously did not qualify for assistance who now qualify. Following are the ten counties where the income limits were increased: Alpine, Calaveras, Colusa, Inyo, Lassen, Mariposa, Mendocino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Santa Clara.
Record Amount of Funding Approved in the Last Three Months
In July, Keep Your Home California approved over $38 million in assistance, the third month in a row where the amount approved for funding eclipsed $38 million. A total of $115 million in benefit assistance was approved in May, June, and July. Before May of this year, Keep Your Home California had never surpassed $38 million approved for funding in a single month. While we are encouraged that more funding is getting to struggling California homeowners, these outcomes only underscore that there are still a lot of homeowners who need assistance, so we know there is more work to do.

There are nearly 8,000 homeowners currently in process, representing an additional $568 million in reserved financial assistance. Though not all of the 8,000 homeowners in process will ultimately qualify for assistance, the recent results and current pipeline suggest we will fully allocate all funds well before the program sunset date of December 31, 2017. If you or someone you know is struggling with their mortgage payments due to a financial hardship, we encourage you to call 888-954-KEEP (5337) or visit www.KeepYourHomeCalifornia.org today.
Homeowners Learn About Programs at NAHREP Event in Lancaster
The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) invited Keep Your Home California to speak at the Antelope Valley Chapter's First Annual Home Buyers & Sellers Ownership Fair 2015, in Lancaster, California. Keep Your Home California representatives Maribel Gonzalez and Daniela Mckenzie provided information about the programs with many in attendance. Some attendees who had already received Keep Your Home California assistance shared their stories and how vital the program was in helping them to stay in their home. Others who heard about the programs for the first time were able to get their questions answered and made plans to follow up with a certified counselor to see if they qualify for assistance.

Keep Your Home California representatives have attended nearly 100 events since the beginning of 2015, and have participated in 778 events since early 2011.  Thousands of homeowners have been exposed to the federally-funded, state-managed program at these events during the past four-plus years.  We greatly appreciate NAHREP Antelope Valley inviting us to their event so we can continue to raise awareness about the programs.

If your organization would like a Keep Your Home California representative to speak at your event, please contact our Community Outreach Liaison, Denise Teora, at [email protected], or by phone at 916-326-8616. If you have a success story you would like to share, we want to hear about it! Please send your story to [email protected].
