Principal Reduction Program Featured in OCC Newsletter

Earlier this month, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) published the latest edition of its Community Developments Investments electronic newsletter entitled "Hardest Hit Fund: State Programs to Improve Loan Modification Sustainability and Stabilize Communities."

The Keep Your Home California Principal Reduction Program was featured in the newsletter, including information about program eligibility and the structure of the mortgage payment assistance. The article also provided information about the effects the market downturn had in California and the goals of the program as part of the effort to help the state continue its recovery.

"Among the state programs that allow HHF funding to be used for principal reduction, California's Principal Reduction Program (PRP) has been the most active by far. The CalHFA MAC's goal in administering the PRP is to assist low- and moderate-income homeowners who have experienced an eligible hardship or are facing imminent default."

Lake County Radio Interview and Event for Homeowners

On July 21, radio show host Susan King with Big Heart/Big Art radio (KPFZ 88.1 Radio) in Lakeport hosted a live 60 minute interview with Keep Your Home California Marketing and External Affairs Director, Steve Gallagher. Listeners were able to call-in to ask questions about the program during the show and the radio station made space available for certified Keep Your Home California counselors to provide counseling sessions onsite for any homeowners who wanted to come to the studio and apply for the program.

The interview focused on the five Keep Your Home California programs that are available to help homeowners prevent foreclosure and remain in their homes. Lake County was reported as having the 3rd highest foreclosure rate in the state during the first quarter of 2015. While in town for the radio interview and event, Keep Your Home California program officials were also able to meet with local lenders, brokers, realtors and title company representatives so they could provide more information about the programs to their clients.

If you would like to host a similar event to raise awareness about the programs in your community, please contact Keep Your Home California's Community Outreach Liaison Denise Teora at (916) 326-8616 or [email protected].
