Bro/Sis Appears on WABC's New York Viewpoint

Last week our Executive Director, Khary Lazarre-White, along with two alumni members, Marsha Jean Charles and Stephan Allen-Douglas, appeared on WABC's New York Viewpoint to discuss the work of The Brotherhood/Sister Sol. We wanted to share this appearance with you as it reflects the diversity of work with which we are engaged.

Oi New York!!!  Greeting From Brazil

Our International Study Program (ISP) completed its first week of their month long experience in Brazil in the city of Rio de Janerio.  Their activities have included; touring Tijuca National Park and Christ the Redeemer at Corcovado, meeting with members of the US consulate and learning about the duties of US diplomats who serve in Brazil.  They toured a favela, and visited with Non Governmental Organizations Complexo de Alemao and Voz Da Communidade. They also toured another favela and spent the day with our partner organization AfroReggae;

had dinner with US diplomats; and walked through Lapa where they had a taste of the busy Brazilian night life and experienced samba music. They visited the Museu dos Novos Pretos, participated in a dance class on stilts and spent a day relaxing at Copacabana Beach.  This is just snippet of all they have done so far.  They have now traveled to the rural community of Miguel Perriera where they await further adventures. Throughout their entire visit they will be reading our self created curriculum and facilitating youth run seminars.  Click on the link below to read ISP members journal entries.
