 Welcome to the Montana/Wyoming Health Technology Service's (HTS) EHR and Health IT Perspectives Newsletter. 
  CMS Offers Relief to Meaningful Use Providers for 2014  
 On Tuesday, May 20, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health IT issued a proposed rule that would change the meaningful use timeline for 2014 to allow providers to continue to use 2011 Edition certified electronic health record technology (CEHRT) or a combination of 2011 Edition and 2014 Edition CEHRT for their 2014 reporting year.  

 

CMS is due to approve this proposed rule (NPRM) on August 30, 2014 which may change 2014 MU reporting requirements.

CMS Intensifies Meaningful Use Audits for EHR Systems

CMS has intensified both in number and in criteria the MU audits they are performing for the Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs on both hospitals and providers throughout Montana and Wyoming.  HTS has assisted several of our clients successfully through the audit process.  Please contact us for assistance with insuring you have all necessary documentation in the event of an audit, or to assist you with the process of an actual audit or an audit appeal from CMS or the MT/WY Medicaid offices.

    Mountain-Pacific Quality Health Wins Five-Year QIN-QIO Contract  

Mountain-Pacific Quality Health was awarded the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) IDIQ contract (Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quality) and will serve as the Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organizations (QIN-QIOs) for Montana, Wyoming, Alaska and Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

 

After a national, highly competitive bidding process, Mountain-Pacific was awarded the new five-year contract for all four states and the U.S. Pacific Territories. The new contract began August 1, 2014 and amounts to more than $32M for the five years. Mountain-Pacific has served as the QIO for this region since 2005, and retains this status with receipt of this award.

 

 Montana Rural Health IT Network Offers Scholarships to Students

Montana Rural Health IT Network has partnered with Montana Tech, Flathead Valley Community College, Great Falls College and the University of Montana to help students enter this growing field by offering scholarships for college tuition, fees and books.
