Quality Measures Crosswalk Tool Designed To Identify Commonalities In Measures and Standards Reports with Graphs picture

Provider practices seeking an electronic health record (EHR) incentive payment from either Medicare or Medicaid through adoption of a certified EHR system are required to report on Meaningful Use health information functionality measures in order to achieve Stage 1 objectives.  Meaningful Use Core Measure 10 requires providers to additionally capture and report clinical quality measures using their EHRs.

Mountain-Pacific Quality Health and the Montana/Wyoming Regional Extension Center (REC) have created a tool which provides a crosswalk that matches the Meaningful Use and clinical quality measures with related PQRS measures and the 2011 Patient - Centered Medical Home standards.

The Quality Measures Crosswalk tool is a Word document with links to very useful measures and standards information. This crosswalk tool is intended to help providers identify common measures and standards addressed by each of the following programs -

  • Meaningful Use (MU) Eligible Professional (EP) Core and Menus Set measures
  • 2011 NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) standards
  • Specific MU Clinical Quality Measures (CQM)
  • Related 2012 Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) measures

Here's what Terry Johnson from the Babson Clinic in Cheyenne had to say about the Quality Measures Crosswalk tool...

"...trying to figure out all of these (measures and standards) programs was very confusing until I found this "great" (Crosswalk) tool that was developed in Helena, MT that totally clears up all the confusion."

Meaningful Use Stage 2 Proposed Rule Notice of Proposed-Rule MakingMU 101

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announces the release of the notices of proposed rule-making (NPRMs) for meaningful use Stage 2 and updated certification criteria.

The ONC proposed rule provides the capabilities and related standards and implementation specifications that Certified EHR Technology will need to include to, at a minimum, support the achievement of "meaningful use" by eligible health care providers beginning with the EHR reporting periods in FY/CY 2014. The rule also proposes revisions to the permanent certification program for health information technology, which include changing the name of the program to the "ONC HIT Certification Program."

Health Care Law  Website
Affordable Care Act New website helps both physicians and patients understand and benefit from the new health care reform law

The new HealthCareandYou.org website is designed primarily for consumers, but physicians can also use it to help their patients make informed health care decisions.

The site provides easy-to-understand descriptions of nearly all aspects of the health care reform measure and offers in depth information on how the law handles medical treatments, disease prevention and coverage for pre-existing conditions. The site also features a state-by-state listing of health care coverage options available now and in the future.
