 After years of drought, we're finally getting back to having a rainy season. Mother Nature has really outdone herself this year! It seems that most of us need hip waders to take a walk around our little piece of Paradise!
But, the grass is greener, plants are lush and it's beginning to look like Florida again. One of the challenges in this humidity is to make sure that the moist air stays outside. Check the caulking on your windows and the seal around your doors for a tight fit. Your air condition and your family will love you for it!

TJ Thornberry Installed as President
of the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce
It's an honor to take the position of Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce President for 2013-2014. Over the past few years, I've held other positions within the Chamber in preparation for this office.
I'd like to offer my congratulations to Immediate Past President Marcia Cullinan for a very successful year and effectively reaching her goal of "Good to Great" for our Chamber.

Now it's time to build on Marcia's success and the success of all our past leaders whose leadership has effectively built our Chamber legacy.

We are fortunate to have an active Chamber with members who unselfishly give of their time. The annual banquet is also the time to honor those members who have gone above and beyond in helping the community. Fiberglass or Metal?
Which is the best entry door for your home?
My choice for the homes I build is definitely fiberglass. And, my company of choice is Therma-Tru Doors because they offer a quality product in a variety of styles in different price categories.
Here are some reasons for using fiberglass entry doors:
- Low-Maintenance - Fiberglass doors require minimal maintenance and can be wiped clean with soap and water.
- Style - Fiberglass can be molded with real wood graining and intricate detail, unlike steel, and it maintains this beauty over time, unlike wood. Therma-Tru offers an extensive line of traditional, Victorian and historic re-creations of beautiful doors and decorative glass to appeal to many styles.
- Durability - Fiberglass doors do not warp, split, shrink or swell as wood doors tend to do. They also do not dent, rust or corrode like steel doors. The door systems meet Housing and Urban Development codes and many have been tested to meet Florida building codes.

And Jess was only too happy to be relaxing at home for some well deserved "quiet time".

Excerpts from a letter to his supplier...
Re: Contractors that built out my restaurant.
Both of the contractors were 15-20% below the bids from other contractors bidding on my restaurant and I had five bidding on it. The work they provided was top quality with no cost over runs and they completed the project on time.
TJ Thornberry was the General contractor and is the President of the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce. Mark (Kemeny - Just Counters & Other Stuff) the Cabinet contractor was perfect on all the mill work, counter tops, drink station, arch door etc. and he came in on budget and on schedule.
....all the personnel from Firehouse that inspected my store before it opened were really impressed with the quality of the work and that they were able to complete the project for the amount quoted...
I was a project manager for 20 years so I know the business and good contractors versus bad ones, these guys are really good both in work quality and more importantly with communication with the customer. They are local and have been in business in Charlotte County for over 20 years,
