Finishing Touches & Craftsman Details
The Harvey Street (Punta Gorda) Craftsman style home that we've been building has really come alive. As you see in the photo's to the right, the front entry steps and walk, the brick paver driveway, and pool deck are complete.
The sod, landscaping, and irrigation have been installed and they give the house a warm and inviting feel. The piano shaped pool is finished and the waterfall at the "keyboard" end offers the soothing sound of flowing water.
We continue to stay busy on the interior millwork. The stairway trim that creates the wainscoting is made of Poplar & Birch finish grade plywood. The posts are constructed in true Craftsman style...clean straight lines and lots of attention to detail. Soon all the stairway details will be painted white to match the trim in the rest of the house.
The tile has been completed in the bathrooms and laundry. The remainder of the flooring throughout the house will be Brazilian Redwood - a beautiful contrast to the painted trim.

Monthly Home Owner Tip
Exterior Inspection List
It's a great time to take advantage of the mild temperatures and weather this time of year, to inspect and maintain the exterior of your home.
- Check for paint that's cracking or peeling (you should re-paint your home every 6-8 years depending on your exposure to the sun).
- Look for mortar joints cracking through your stucco, foundation cracks, and any blocked soffit vents.
- It's also important to carefully examine gaps in caulking around windows and doors for waterproofing and energy efficiency.
Minor repairs now can save major problems later!

What's new with the Thornberry's.......
Taylor & TJ
Taylor, my youngest of 20 cousins on my Dad's side of the family, was in town visiting from Alaska. It was great getting to know her as an adult since I haven't seen her in 12 years.
Jess and I enjoyed spending time with Taylor and showing her around Punta Gorda.
I'm sure she enjoyed our beautiful weather which is quite a change from winter in Fairbanks!
