It's back, G's YOGA!
Starting April 4th, every Monday and Thursday evenings at 6:00PM KimberleyG is bringing her special breed of yoga back to BAER Fit's training center in Springboro. These will be small classes of 4 students, so get registered soon. More days and times will be added as needed. KimberleyG will still be offering her private yoga sessions also.

Yoga for Runners and Everyone Else

Got you didn't I? Made you start reading this article. You might have thought I was being biased but nope keep on reading for some great stuff!
 
I've found that there aren't many people out there who haven't at least considered taking a yoga class. What has kept those same people from actually attending a class is their lack of flexibility. I've heard so many people say this to me, and it really boggles my mind because it's as if these people think that to be able to touch your toes is some sort of prerequisite for the class! Well, Yoga is there to improve your flexibility, you just have to keep an open mind and realize that it takes more than one class to improve your flexibility.
 
When I was teaching Yoga at New Page I had at least 4 -5 men in each class. By the end of the first year each of these men told me how astonished they were that they could actually touch their toes! They persevered for as long as it took for them to be able to do this monumental feat!

Body Image, the Constant Battle

Body image is something all of us are very aware of, and most of us wish we could change. Years ago, before I fell head over heels in love with the science of nutrition, I let my negative body image lead me to poor decisions and harmful last resorts. I looked in the mirror and hated myself. And when you hate something you don't treat it right. My weight fluctuated from skinny fat, to disturbingly obese. And I didn't know how to stop the cycle.
 
Summer is NOT fat! She's pregnant.
 
By the time I finally got it together, learned the right way to eat, and the love of challenge found in weightlifting, I found myself proud of what I saw in the mirror, surprised by what I could accomplish, and impressed by what a healthy me actually looked like. Nothing like the women in magazines, but something better.

Spring Training---NOT just for baseball?

A few years ago, I received a long, thin box by special delivery...No, NOT roses from some secret admirer (WISHFUL THINKING??), but the two hazelnut trees I ordered in the fall for spring delivery. For those of you who don't know me that well, most of the trees in my yard are also food bearing: peaches, apples, cherries, pears, (vines/bushes: strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries), and from this box...hazelnuts!! I believe a tree, bush or vine should earn its place in my yard, and so far they're doing a great job! (The last few years my peach and apple trees and blackberry vines produced enough for me to both eat and freeze, while the others produced GREAT treats as I walked through the yard! A couple of years ago, I also added an almond tree.)
