It's another great weekend, and even more like fall. COOL!. For all you runners and speed walkers. The Miamisburg Turkey Trot is in about 5 weeks. If you are going to enter it you can let us know, train@baerfit.com, give us your shirt size and we'll give you one of our specially designed shirts, done by Summer Swift. Low back pain moving on!
 
  At some point in our lives we all experience some form of low back pain and it is caused by misuse, non-use, or a combination of both. And when you have this type of pain the couch or bed look much more inviting than the thought of getting up and stretching or moving around. As a CFT and Paramedic with advanced training in injury prevention and recovery we can discuss what could help. Here are a few good and bad moves you can perform if you have discussed them with your trainer and or Doctor. 
 
Avoid toe touches, these can place greater stress on the disks and ligaments in your spine. This can be a very beneficial stretch when performed correctly, we will show you the proper way of performing them!

Food Addiction

Have you stopped to wonder if your favorite foods were an "addiction". Many of us would just say "absolutely not", but in reality it is the addiction telling you that. I will be the first to admit that I have a food addiction; I am addicted to sugar (of all kinds). I can consume only sugar for an entire day and be happy with that. Sugar has caused me to fall off the "bandwagon" numerous times (hence why I am writing this article).

When you think of addiction, you automatically think of substance abuse of either narcotics or alcohol, but addiction can come in many forms. Some of the symptoms of food addiction include: obsession with thoughts about food, compulsive overeating, the feeling of being out of control when eating, overeating simply because food is there, hiding food so you can eat in secret, eating everything on the plate even when you are full, and being aware that your eating patterns are abnormal.
