Lose Fat, Break a Plateau, Learn How To Eat
  
We keep looking for that magic diet, pill or program. Well there isn't one. I just read an ad for a doctor supervised weight loss program that guarantees 20 to 40+ pounds lost in 40 days. No exercise, no cravings, no drugs, no hunger, no hormones??? So this is the magic answer we are looking for. Up until about 30 years ago, we didn't need any pills, diets or magic. We all ate real food, cooked, enjoyed and were naturally active. We know how to eat, now we all forgot how to eat. So I am going to share some of the very simple things that make it easy to lose, and stop the gains.

First look at the rankings of healthiest countries. We tell you not to eat rich foods, sauces, pasta, pizza's, yet France and Italy are 1st and 2nd healthiest, while Canada and the USA are 30th and 37th. One thing for sure, the healthy countries don't eat all the crap that we do and they do walk more and have more physical activity. In one study about the difference in body weight between American and Italian women, American women, BMI mean of 40.3, had a significantly higher body mass compared with Italian women, 29.7. US women had worse insulin resistance, lower levels of high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol and higher levels of triglycerides. Look over this list, then read what some of the good eating tips are.

Low back pain? Now what!
 
I hear it all too often, "I have low back pain, what can I do? Avoiding all of the technical medical speak, here is a quick list of tips to employ.
 
The tips you can use the acronym   R. E. S. T.     P. I. L. S.
 
Rest: Yes, rest is when your body will recover. How and where you rest can make all the difference. Get rid of any mattress that is not supportive like waterbeds or feather beds and replace them with a firm supportive mattress. Avoid sleeping on your stomach and try placing a pillow under your knees for back sleepers or between the knees to reduce pressure.
 
Eat Smarter: Our Nutrition plans at Baer Fit are a great start, but do your own research and ask us questions! Bone up on the nutrients that help build and maintain strong bones and prevent fractures. Vitamins can be beneficial but if they are not natural don't waist your money! You may notice the over the counter brands say they offer 400% of some nutrients, and though the statement as crafted is accurate, the facts are false. 80+% of the tablet is still in tact when it leaves you, meaning the vitamins end up in the.....well not you!

Fall is a time of CHANGE... Did you know that leaves don't really "fall" off the trees? They're actually PUSHED off instead!

This year has been TOTALLY different from other summers I've spent here. Trees were producing a magnificent amount of leaves because of the abundant rain. Then, suddenly, we had some of our hottest temperatures and ABSOLUTELY NO RAIN TO SPEAK OF for several weeks! The leaves were QUICKLY being PUSHED off the trees early, because there just WASN'T ENOUGH food or water to go around. The trees were busy storing everything they could to preserve their strength for winter. (It's all about efficiency and storing energy.)
  
All spring, and then summer, the trees get enough sunlight to go through process call photosynthesis. This is the process that converts carbon dioxide and water into sugar. Every "food" we eat originates as glucose produced by photosynthetic organisms.  You might say the leaves are culinary staff, making appropriate food for the trees to not only survive, but grow and store energy for the future. Food storage for trees is a necessity, as winter day-length is too short to provide the energy that drives photosynthesis.
  
As days grow shorter, trees are programmed to recognize that little or no "food" is being created by the leaves: the kitchen staff is no longer needed, and leaf connections are severed by a process call leaf abscission. The tree literally pushes the leaves off!
