Green Tip For The Week
Don't be a drip - fix that leak! Leaky faucets can waste thousands of gallons of water each year, like money down the drain. Repair or replace old or damaged fixtures. If you're not sure you have a leak, check the water meter before and after a two-hour period when no water is being used. If the meter does not read exactly the same, you probably have a leak. Rabbi Frishman's Seminar: Polarization or Shalom?
Next Session: Monday, August 22, 7:30 pm
Seminar with Rabbi Frishman based on Jonathan Haidt's book:
TheRighteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion
"I hate you, you hate me, can't we be a happy family?"
In this political year, let's discuss how to get along with people we disagree with strongly. Haidt's important work applies biology and psychology towards understanding the development of morality, and the shaping of groups and communities.
Please acquire Haidt's book as reading preparation must be done in advance of each session.

Have you blown shofar during the High Holidays in past years at Barnert? Would you like to try blowing shofar this year for the first time? If you answered "yes" to either question, we'd love for you to join our team of shofar blowers. We will offer a session to teach you how to blow the shofar and learn about its importance. E-mail Rabbi Steiner at rabbisteiner@barnerttemple.org to let her know you are interested and she will be in touch when the dates for the sessions are set!
Lend Your Voice To The Adult Choir On The High Holidays!
We're looking for more voices to enhance Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services. It's fun; the music is easy to learn; you'll be fully engaged in our High Holiday services, and you'll join a very special group at Barnert Temple! We are planning a special introductory rehearsal for new singers so if you have not sung with our Choir before, you still can! Contact Janet at janetmontroy@gmail.com and she will provide you with rehearsal information.
