Volunteer for a shift at the Family Promise Day Shelter in Ridgewood. Choose one shift that runs 8:30 - 11 am, 11 am - 2 pm or 2 - 5pm. Volunteers visit with the families, chat with the parents, play with the kids and are generally just "present" to staff the center. Family Promise is the only organization in Bergen County providing services and shelter to working homeless families. The program operates through the support of churches and synagogues like ours.

Interested in learning about Social Action at Barnert and perhaps getting involved?
Please come to a get-together in the Barnert Temple Library. We'll get to spend some quality time being with people with shared values while we eat, talk about current Social Action initiatives, and chat about possible new initiatives in the future. RSVP to either Jeff Wild or Elizabeth Resnick if possible or just drop by! If anyone is interested but cannot attend this meeting, please contact Jeff or Elizabeth and they will be happy to fill you in and be helpful in any way they can.
Mitzvah Mall 2016 Raises More Than $35,000 For 10 Grassroots Organizations!
What fun Team Tzedek has working together to raise money and awareness for grassroots organizations that are making a difference!
On Sunday, April, 10, Team Tzedek celebrated the conclusion of fundraising activities for Mitzvah Mall 2016 with a potluck and a check for $35,153.18. Thanks to the generosity of all who contributed, this money will help fund programs that benefit women, children, elderly, refugees and others in need. Now that you've been introduced to the important work they are doing, we hope you will continue to support them in whatever ways you can.

We all have known seniors who can't or shouldn't be driving anymore.
If you can spare just one hour a month, please consider volunteering to drive one short trip for a senior or blind person through iTNNorthJersey. Social Action Drives
We are Always Collecting Food:
Local food pantries are struggling to meet demand. We're always collecting food in the Atrium for the Center for Food Action in Mahwah. Please click here to see which items are most urgently needed now: Most Needed Items at CFA.
Winter Coats and Jackets: We are still collecting for children and adults. Please donate new or gently used coats and jackets today! They will be donated to the Paterson community through CUMAC (Center of United Methodist Aid), a 2009 Mitzvah Mall Charity.
New Toiletries, Cosmetic Bags, Toiletry Bags: Center for Hope and Safety (formerly Shelter Our Sisters, a 2002 Mitzvah Mall Charity) still need items. Full sizes or the small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bars of soap from hotels are great! New cosmetic bags and toiletry bags are needed as well!
