Summer Food Tip

Hunger Doesn't Take a Summer Vacation! Summer is a difficult time for many families in need.  Additional childcare costs and no school lunches make it hard to feed a family.  Our Food Bank pantries are bare - bring your donation of canned goods to Barnert Temple - we'll get it to a needy family now!

Join Rabbi Frishman on a
Civil Rights Journey for Justice
August 24 - 26, Columbia, South Carolina (note change of city)
Rabbi Frishman
March to elevate the freedoms and rights of black Americans.  Let's counter the violence and arrogance of racism, criminal justice, challenged voting rights...

Organized by the NAACP, in partnership with our Reform movement, we fully embrace this historic Journey for Justice.  Rabbi Frishman and our Barnert Community will join with other synagogue communities, teens and adults, as we carry a Torah and march for justice.  Each day, from August 1 until September 13, a new group will march 20 miles, sleeping in local churches or Islamic Centers.  Each morning, a new group will pick up where the other left off.  We will meet in Columbia on August 24, march on August 25 and return home August 26.  For more information, please contact Helen at helenm1847@barnerttemple.org.

This will be an historic event!

High Holidays!

Lchoirend Your Voice to the Adult Choir!
We're
looking for more voices to enhance Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services.  It's fun; the music is easy to learn; you'll be fully engaged in our High Holiday services, and you'll join a very special group at Barnert Temple!  Contact Janet at janetmontroy@gmail.com and she will provide you with rehearsal information.

CallinShofar 2g All Shofar Blowers!

Have you blown shofar during the High Holidays in past years at Barnert?   Would you like to try blowing shofar this year for the first time?  If you answered "yes" to either question, we'd love for you to join our team of shofar blowers.  We will offer a session in early September to learn about the importance of the shofar, the sounds it makes, and the technique needed.  E-mail Rabbi Steiner at rabbisteiner@barnerttemple.org to let her know you are interested and she will be in touch when the dates for the sessions are set!

The High Holidays are right around the corner.
Barnert Temple has a security program which includes the issuing of numbered vehicle identification stickers to ALL Full and Associate Members of Barnert Temple.  These vehicle identification stickers assist security guards in more easily identifying unfamiliar vehicles. Thanks for your help in making Barnert a safe, secure and comfortable environment.

If you do not have a BT sticker currently on your vehicle, please call Natalie in the Temple Office at (201) 848-1800 and arrange to pick up your sticker.
