Family Promise Volunteers Needed
Sunday, April 12
Fam Prom of Berg Cty Can you spare a few hours on a Sunday to do a mitzvah for Family Promise Day Shelter in Ridgewood?

We are looking to fill our time slots for this Sunday, April 12,:

8:30 - 11 am

11 am - 2 pm

2 - 5:30 pm

What do you do?

Volunteers play with the kids (though the parents are always there), do arts and crafts or just visit.  There are games, computers, TV and books in the main room.  The "Family Promise guests" use the Day Shelter as a home base for the day, where they can relax, do laundry, shower, work on the computers, etc.  As a volunteer, you just need to be "present" at the Shelter, providing oversight while the staff is not there, and serving as a friendly visitor. You can bring a book in case there are quiet times.

Family Promise is a local chapter of a national interfaith organization dedicated to helping low-income working families.  Learn more at http://www.bergenfamilypromise.org/bfp/

Please contact Donna Meyer at (201) 681-7044 or meymail@me.com if you have any questions or would like to volunteer.
We need volunteers for our upcoming Sundays as well:  May 10 and June 14

Mark Sunday, April 19, in your calendar for the second Blue Moon Community Night (and day!) to benefit Mitzvah Mall 2015 Just click here to print out a coupon, hand it to your server, and Blue Moon will donate 20% of your tab for lunch, dinner or take-out to Mitzvah Mall charities.  Look for hard copies of the coupon at the Temple too.  The restaurant will combine totals from both the snowy March 1 and April 19 Community Nights to help us conclude 2015 collections on the highest note possible.

To date, we've raised more than $36,428 for 10 carefully chosen grassroots organizations.  You can continue contributing until April 20 by:

  • Going to http://barnerttemple.org/MitzvahMall/ to donate on-line or print out a form and send in a check
  • Collecting Tzedakah at home or in meetings and bringing it to the Office in envelopes marked clearly "For Mitzvah Mall"
  • Eating brunch, lunch or dinner at Blue Moon on Sunday, April 19.  Take-out counts, too.  Click here for a coupon to print out and hand to your server.  You can forward this coupon link to friends, create a FaceBook event, or spread the word any way you can!

To join Team Tzedek and contribute to future Mitzvah Mall planning and activities, please contact Sue Klein at sueklein@optonline.net, Ron Lynn at ronlynnhome@icloud.com, or Eileen Roman at jdroman@verizon.net.

Social Action Drives
We are Always Collecting Food:

Check out the On-Line Option for Donating Food!
Local food pantries are struggling to meet demand.  We're always collecting food in the Atrium, but now you may also donate food through the click of a button.  Click here for our Barnert Temple Food Drive webpage at yougivegoods.com.  It's simple!  Select the food you would like to donate and pay on-line.  All purchases will be delivered to the Center for Food Action in Mahwah.

Winter Coats and Jackets :
We are still collecting for children and adults.  Please donate new or gently used coats and jackets today!  They will be donated to the Paterson community through CUMAC (Center of United Methodist Aid), a 2009 Mitzvah Mall Charity.

Toiletries New Toiletries, Cosmetic Bags, Toiletry Bags:
Center for Hope and Safety (formerly Shelter Our Sisters, a 2002 Mitzvah Mall Charity) still need items.  Full sizes or the small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bars of soap from hotels are great!  New cosmetic bags and toiletry bags are needed as well!

Please drop off your contributions in the baskets in the Atrium.
