Family Promise Volunteers Needed
Sunday, January 11
Fam Prom of Berg Cty Can you spare a few hours on a Sunday to do a mitzvah for Family Promise Day Shelter in Ridgewood?
We are looking to fill our time slots for this Sunday, January 11, 2015,:

8:30 - 11 am

11 am - 2 pm

2 - 5:30 pm

What do you do?

Volunteers play with the kids (though the parents are always there), do arts and crafts or just visit.  There are games, computers, TV and books in the main room.  The "Family Promise guests" use the Day Shelter as a home base for the day, where they can relax, do laundry, shower, work on the computers, etc.  As a volunteer, you just need to be "present" at the Shelter, providing oversight while the staff is not there, and serving as a friendly visitor. You can bring a book in case there are quiet times.

Family Promise is a local chapter of a national interfaith organization dedicated to helping low-income working families.  Learn more at http://www.bergenfamilypromise.org/bfp/

Please contact Donna Meyer at (201) 681-7044 or meymail@me.com if you have any questions or would like to volunteer.

Social Action Drives
We are Always Collecting Food:

Check out the On-Line Option for Donating Food!
Local food pantries are struggling to meet demand.  We're always collecting food in the Atrium, but now you may also donate food through the click of a button.  Click here for our Barnert Temple Food Drive webpage at yougivegoods.com.  It's simple!  Select the food you would like to donate and pay on-line.  All purchases will be delivered to the Center for Food Action in Mahwah.

Winter Coats and Jackets :
We are still collecting for children and adults.  Please donate new or gently used coats and jackets today!  They will be donated to the Paterson community through CUMAC (Center of United Methodist Aid), a 2009 Mitzvah Mall Charity.

Toiletries New Toiletries, Cosmetic Bags, Toiletry Bags:
Center for Hope and Safety (formerly Shelter Our Sisters, a 2002 Mitzvah Mall Charity) still need items.  Full sizes or the small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bars of soap from hotels are great!  New cosmetic bags and toiletry bags are needed as well!

Please drop off your contributions in the baskets in the Atrium.
