Green Tip for the Week

WWOOF your way around the worldIf you hanker for a change from the beach, why not spend time working on an organic farm during your next vacation?  The international WWOOF (World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) association can put you in touch with host farms.  This is a great way to encounter places, people, and adventures that are not available to the average tourist.  (Reprinted from: 1,001 Ways to Save the Earth, By Joanna Yarrow)

Family Promise Volunteers Needed
Sunday, January 11, 2015
Fam Prom of Berg Cty
Can you spare a few hours on a Sunday to do a mitzvah for Family Promise Day Shelter in Ridgewood?

We are looking to fill our time slots for Sunday, January 11:

8:30 - 11 am

11 am - 2 pm

2 - 5:30 pm

What do you do?

Volunteers play with the kids (though the parents are always there), do arts and crafts or just visit.  There are games, computers, TV and books in the main room.  The "Family Promise guests" use the Day Shelter as a home base for the day, where they can relax, do laundry, shower, work on the computers, etc.  As a volunteer, you just need to be "present" at the Shelter, providing oversight while the staff is not there, and serving as a friendly visitor. You can bring a book in case there are quiet times. Learn more Family Promise at http://www.bergenfamilypromise.org/bfp/

Please contact Donna Meyer at (201) 681-7044 or [email protected] if you have any questions or would like to volunteer.
